Congrats, even thought the guy was kind of a ****head himself!
Without motivating myself to go downstairs and turn on one of my compact Mac's, I believe the occasional "static pip" is normal.
Congrats on your LC III!
THe funny thing is, that big flat panel, probably weighs quite a bit less than the 14" CRT's that the LC was designed to support. :)
Even though you cleaned up the board and got it to boot, the capacitors on the motherboard are still bad and need to be replaced. Any electrical fluctuations will first show up in the monitor, because that is the most sensitive to interference and the biggest power draw.
Yeah... I guess I didn't quite think about it like that. I was just surprised to see a Mac motherboard in such a device. The agreement between Apple and Acuson - according to the article - was also three years before the accepted time frame of the "clone era". It does make you wonder how many...
Yeah, the contents of the HD should be pretty interesting. I don't know why I've never taken the time to tear into the machine. It has a few cards in it... I'll have to take a closer look. At least one of them is network card.
I'll probably try and repair the IIvi board, but I also might drop a...
Have you tried a different keyboard?
Have you tried plugging the mouse and keyboard into separate ADB ports, instead of plugging the mouse into the keyboard?
Have you tried alternating which ADB port the keyboard is plugged into?
I've had one of these (ACUSON AEGIS QV100) floating around my collection for years. Technically, I guess it's not a "clone" since it has an actual Mac motherboard. It's never worked and I've never really messed with it too much, so recently I've been doing some research. The one in the pictures...
Ah, I didn't look up the exact compatibility before I posted... :I
I was looking for upgrades for my G3 a while ago and they were still a bit more that I could justify paying. More or less looking to make a really fast OS 9 machine.
Either way, you got a good deal. :)
Nice save! Mine wasn't quite as free... My Mom bought it from a co-worker in 1994 for $900! 8-o
It was a great machine for a number of years, but now the power supply needs to be replaced. I have another working IIsi, that I am going to sacrifice to bring my original back to life. }:)
Some of you might recall my recent 512k conquest last week. Well, I left it case and all in the trunk of my car, waiting until the next day after my wife left for work to smuggle it down in the basement. By the time I got home from work the city had declared a snow emergency so all 3 of our...
My Mac II had been sitting in storage for years... even before I got it... I've kept it plugged in since finding out that the battery was good. I should test it again soon though. It is certainly the exception NOT the rule.
