It's fine. So it's not fatal to plug an SE/30 logic board straight into a Classic II analog board, just very stupid.
Looking at the pinouts for the SE that Genie Mac supplied, the Classic 14-pin list is what I was talking about, but II think the SE's 10 pins are from the removable power supply...
Yeah I really can't find any pinout info for any post-Plus compacts' analog board -> logic board connector.
I can verify that an SE/30 board plugged into a Classic II chassis makes weird noises and doesn't boot at all...
Hope I didn't blow anything up 8-o (no sizzling or magic smoke...
I was actually eventually thinking a SE/30 in a pretty Classic Case...
You're right about the pinouts being different... If I have to build an adapter, that would be annoying.
Does the GS have the might-as-well-be Mac GUI- GS/OS on it? The Woz edition IIgs I had 18 years ago had that. With the color and look alike GS/OS, I'd probably go with the IIgs.
Progress... in the form of gathering a bunch of the parts into the same room.
The 575 board and end-connector will be perfect. Like, frighteningly perfect. Like, maybe the original Color Classic was supposed to be in the Classic II chassis perfect. All I need to do is mark where the notches...
So are those a standard 4:3 CRT just sideways? Sure looks more like 3:5 but not quite 1:2.
EDIT: 640x870 is a lot closer to 3:4 than to 3:5 like I was thinking.
I used to use Chipmunk Basic. Programmed a simple bell system for the junior high school at which I worked in 2001. As far as I know, there's still an LCIII on a shelf in their library ringing the class bells.
Make sure you wear a mask/respirator when you blow that thing out

I'm thinking the filth may have happened after the SE's useful life. Looks like it sat in a wet barn for a while.
I would venture to guess that the first few (hundred?) 512ke lobos were the last few 512k lobos that got Plus ROMs instead, right in the factory. Since it has a ke bucket I'd assume it's an early one.
State of the project:
Real Life is backing off a bit, so I'm getting a chance to evaluate ideas and get things in line to actually bring this to a close.
Previously I was working with a Q605 board that I was going to hide under a cut down and thoroughly re-jiggered Classic II board for ports...
