    Q605/LC475 (onboard) ram upgrade.

Were the onboard chips 80ns and the chips on your SIMM 60ns? Would something like that explain the speed boost? I found an auction for a 16MB 30-pin simm, read the part number off the Siemens chips on it, did a little googling, and found this auction for just the chips themselves ($2 each in...

A Mini and some surprise numbers on the end of my SE

The Craigslist ad had fuzzy pictures of the "Mac SE" the guy wanted to sell. Turned out to be an SE/30 with an Ethernet card in it! I felt much better about dropping $50 on a networked SE/30 than just another SE! I have my tools at work, so I'll see if there is any battery damage before I...

    IIsi (onboard) ram upgrade.

If you're going to try 16, you might as well try it first. Might save yourself the 8MB step!

    IIsi (onboard) ram upgrade.

So will you be upgrading your good board now?

    IIsi (onboard) ram upgrade.

Is this your OC'd 29 si? I have a 605 that needs recapping anyway... :)

    IIsi (onboard) ram upgrade.

Awesome! I asked a while ago if such a thing could be done to a 475/605. Think you could upgrade any Mac this way, or is the SI a special case?

    I want to do this...

How on earth could you not keep up? I've only taken a year and 14 different end-goals! :) I really just need the cable that has the HD-15M to little-white-single-row-6-position-F-Molexy-thing. The cable itself is black and about 4'-6' long. The close-to-final internal roadmap is: *...

    I want to do this...

I found a bin of old parts (including the rest of my ZipCC, so I may get it back in running condition) and in it was a spare CC loom! Woohooo! That means I just have to isolate the signals from leads: 8 (Video GND), 9 (Comp-Sync), 11 ( B) , 13 (G), 15 ®, 20, 24, 25 (IDs), and 28, 29, 30, &amp...

    Oh, the blasphemy!

Those were probably all part of a well-loved classroom set in some grade school. Back when they were symbols of "useless computers" worth maybe $5 each, letting the kids paint them so they were at least interesting looking was probably a brilliant idea.

I bought some brush on at Lowes, it seems too dark though. We'll see

    I want to do this...

Just a paint job and decals away... (on the outside) (The SE got its sticker after being rescued from it's position as a doorstop. Worked well at the time; needs a recap now. :-/ )

1993 Classic with a Classic II bucket - unusual?

That makes sense then. The Classic II buckets with the speed holes were later in the production of CIIs, so your bucket would be from the beginning of the CII period/end of the Classic era. Schools were buying Classics right up until Apple said "we literally don't have any more." If they had...

1993 Classic with a Classic II bucket - unusual?

Does it have the "sound enhancing" starburst of holes on the left side?

    Got a Performa 631CD...

It could depend on your adapter. If it has sense lines that indicate it is 640x480 that's all the Mac may offer. There are switched adapters for a few fixed modes, and some "multimode" adapters will let you do whatever you want to your poor unsuspecting monitor :)

    I want to do this...

You mean on the 605 board? Yeah that would work, and if this 575 loom trick doesn't work out I will probably go back to that. It's just so elegant to have the back door and the slide in lobo. I'm kind of in love with this 575 board at the moment, but if the video issues are too big a deal, I'll...

    Oregon Trail for Mac Plus

I would never encourage piracy, but since you own the disks now and have a legal license to that particular version of the software, I'm pretty sure you could find that particular version of the software somewhere online so that you don't have to open your box.

Decked out Apple IIgs vs. Decked out PLUS

At one point Radio Shack had a "trade in any computer for $200 off a CoCo(2? 3?)" deal going. This was at the same time you could buy a TS-1000 in a bubble pack at the drug store for $50. Radio Shack was inundated with little black wedges. The Tandy offices in Dallas supposedly used them for...
