You have to be careful, though, if you want to do a dual-CPU upgrade. Older versions of the Sawtooth have a version (ver 3) of the Uni-North (Uni-N) chip which does not allow dual-CPUs under Mac OS X. One of the upgrade companies makes a utility which will tell you the version of the chip in yours.
They always remind me of an old refrigerator.
Also, they have one of those designs that makes your mind want to see a face, but too many horizontal elements to clearly focus on a mouth. (Probably better without the Zip bezel.)
Correct on both counts. Only USB, FW400 and ATAPI versions. (At $CUSTOMER, they had a few Dells fitted with internal 750s and lots of the USB externals.) I managed to scrounge two externals and an 8 pack of disks during a big cleanout.
This sounds a lot like an Airport card that I have. It will see networks, but won't connect (at least not after the first couple of minutes post-boot). The only difference is that OS 9 and OS X makes no difference.
I just assumed the card was bad.
Actually, you should be able to install the card in the QS, boot from another drive, and then flash the card with the Weibe utility. That's what I did on my MDD.
I was going through a box with my 13-year old and came across a transistor radio. She could not get her head around the idea of it being a radio and had even more trouble understanding where the knobs were (thumb nobs in the side). Sigh.

I have to confess that I'm surprised any G4 is selling for $300. Are the 17" ones particularly sought after or something? Maybe its me, but that price feels awfully close to impinging on low-end Macbook territory.
