    LC 475, I don't know what I'm looking at

That's the thing, though - they don't FEEL slow (at least with System 7.1) - unless you're doing something crazy like opening a jpeg 😆

    LC 475, I don't know what I'm looking at

I'd suggest 32MB - this gets you 36MB with the soldered 4MB, plenty for a 68k machine, very reasonable boot times, and no potential issues closing the lid 😄 (some of those higher capacity RAM chips are longer and can get in the way of getting the lid on)

    LC 475, I don't know what I'm looking at

Congratulations on your machine! The LC475 is fantastic 😄 great form factor to work on, and thanks to some R&D by members of this forum you can overclock it in software: https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/overclock-lc475-p475-q605-without-soldering-or-spicy-o-clock.47946/

Seeking advice on final resolution with eBay seller.

You are legally entitled to keep the card and not worry about this anymore! But if we look past the back and forth and sob stories: You wanted this card, and were willing to pay for it (and did so). Even though the seller is clearly out to lunch, they did actually provide you with something of...

    LC 475 Project - Upgrades - Mods

For me it's safety and availability: - a button cell won't cause the same catastrophic damage if it leaks - I can buy button cells at the grocery store, getting the 1/2AA size is a huge pain in the ass by comparison

    Soph’s finds

Great find! That era was super interesting - first generation PPC, still has NuBus, before the switchover to IDE so still rockin' SCSI. Also wow I didn't know the 7100 had that many caps, that's quite a project when you decide to recap 😅

5400/160 logic board looks ok but seems dead

Couldn't resist and had a quick poke at the CPU - cleared off the solder blobs and pushed the legs back (chisel tip ftw), the CPU and a couple of the other chips get hot when I power it up but still no other life signs unfortunately! Will investigate more on monday 😆

Nice! Thank you so much - looks like a busy monday for me 😅 Will definitely also check the caps, I am particularly embarassed about C115 😱

5400/160 logic board looks ok but seems dead

Hi everybody! I have a 5400/160 that I pulled from a machine which I'd like to get up and running, but I'm stuck. - The machine did not bong or output video when I fired it up - I've also tested it in a known good 6200 (where it currently resides), still no bong or video. The speaker pops but I...

In Search of: Centris 610, just the case

Congratulations! Where in the world are you located? And what kind of compromises are you willing to make? - eg Quadra 610 instead of Centris (esp. if you are swapping in a full fat 040) - do you need the CD bezel or the blank bezel for the central slot - requirements for feet situation...

Internal chassis replacement for Macintosh Performa 6116CD

LC III vs LC III+ vs Performa 467

Internal chassis replacement for Macintosh Performa 6116CD

I've started work on an MVP 3D printable replacement - funnily enough this exact project is what motivated me to finally pick up Blender! Mine is not an exact recreation, but is designed to hold an additional fan in place of the hard drive to improve airflow - but the general shape is the same...

Apple macintosh Quadra 605 not posting - no chime/video

I had to redo C36 on my LC475, the traces go really close to the pad and my capacitors are too big. Might be worth taking another look especially if you have bad mask? (C35 might have similar) These are the ones next to the RAM socket, though I don't know if they are actually involved with the...

It might be possible to use WishIwere to spoof a different identity - I have never tried it myself, but it may be worth a shot before you do hardware mods? http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/wish-i-were-v20

Apple macintosh Quadra 605 not posting - no chime/video

This may be super obvious but you didn't mention it - do you have a battery installed? iirc these won't post without a battery 😅
