Does it come off easy if needed? I just want something that will protect those traces so it doesn't cause any issues later down the road. Is it worth paying extra $$$ and buying the proper conformal coating?

It appears to be an Apple-branded serial cable. Below is a photo of one end of the cable. Both ends plugged right in to the printer ports on both computers. End also has "TWNPI3" and 590-0552-A molded in.

Hmm... that's interesting. IIRC, Apple wanted each facility to make a specific model in the early 90s instead of making different machines for a specific region. I believe the high-end machines (II, Quadra series) were to be made in Fremont, the LC (and possibly SE/30?) was to be made in Ireland...
