There is a story on Low End Mac about using CF in older Macs via SCSI.

They point to a $35 adapter that is external, and it sounds pretty cool.
However, a later email from someone who bought one says he can't get it to mount - that SCSI probe sees it...

A couple questions - what is the best software to verify the size of the cache - the Newer Ram Gauge thingy - or even Apple System profiler?
I'm not sure what OS is on the machine right now - dunno if Profiler is on there.
I've got two 6100s and I've swaped parts...
I've got a 6100av and while it's pretty cool - the big drawback is that using the TV as an external monitor is limited to 256 colors.
What are the most realistic options for outputting this and other Macs of that era to TV with thousands of colors?

I agree with the others - you are looking at the 6100 through the prism of modern computing and that isn't fair.
And you keep harping on the fact that your 6100 is missing a bezel. Find one for it! It will feel better and so will you.

I have a 1mb cache for my 6100.
When it was my main machine it made a WORLD of difference.
I also had an clock chipper on it - and while that helped - it didn't do nearly as much as the 1mb.
I never knew why it was so dramatic until recently - as the previous poster said it caches the entire...
