A 500MHz clamshell will run like trash on leopard. Great proof of concept but not practical. That being said- Im stilling gonna run 10.5 on my clamshell lol.
I am eager to try and get a 1GHZ clamshell and make the 'worlds fastest clamshell'. Ill upload one quick GeekBench test (for bragging...
I have the exact measurements and designs for the leaf and apple body. It might be time well spent just printing both. The leaf is especially hard to print since it has a very narrow and small flat base. Most (cheepo) printers aren't able to get a OEM fit, but its better than nothing.
Couple things I found on www.liquisearch.com/apple_network_server/hardware
1) The stock ANS 700 has 1MB of L2 Cache whereas mine has 512kb.
2) Stock ANS has 48MB of RAM and mine has 32MB
Would these two issues stop the machine from booting for more than a second? Or is it a short circuit as...
Tried that. I followed the troubleshooting guide on this site: http://www.erik.co.uk/ans/AppleNetServTroubleshoot.html. Ive tested everything but the power supply and the logic board. A new power supply is $450 on xs4trade.net :(
After getting the power supply recapped, it seems like the ANS still won't boot. After pressing the power button, the machine lights up and then suddenly shutdown. Its just a quick flash of the lights. Anyone know what could be the culprit?
I bought a 200MHZ Processor and a full key set. The power supply is being re capped by 360alaska. Now the only thing I need is the SCSCI CD Rom and the ANS will be complete. Im actually pretty impressed that I was able to get most of the stuff sorted sub 1,000.
Im looking for software to mass clone my Mac OS 9.2.2 install on my iMac G4 to IDE hard drives. Some of the iBooks I own have dead hard drives and instead of reinstalling the OS on each and every machine, Id like to just clone a 9.2.2 install onto the iBook.
there is a site called key.me that can print a copy of a key by sending them a photo. Im gonna stick to that and not mess up the barrel. The seller had used the key from another ANS to open up the back door so replicating it is my best chance. Once inside I will be able to find a way to disable...
Yeah I plan to get a lock smith to cut me a new key. I have heard that the rear key is the same on every ANS, can anyone confirm this? If so I could probably find a picture and get a key cut just from the picture of the key.
As per the optical drive I would prefer if it was an Apple original...
Thanks to nuvision I was lucky enough to purchase an ANS 700. Its been a dream computer of mine for a while now, but its got a few issues.
First off it's missing the SCSI CD ROM Drive- if any one has a spare please let me know.
Secondly it is missing the key and thus I cant open it up to look...
There are a quite a few 68kmla members who live in NC. I would be careful as someone might steal it from under you. Hopefully nobody does. The flower power is on my wish list of macs to buy! Good Luck!
