Very Interesting. Although the 8500 was a tower style case. Also the 8500 had a max clock speed of 180 mhz whereas this is a 400MHZ. This could have been an unreleased Mac based off the 8500 motherboard.
Piggy backing on the other "odd" motherboard posts, Ive found an LCII board at the flea that is missing some of regular LCII markings.
Firstly, the 4 main ICs have hand written tags on them. I haven't seen an LCII with these type of stickers.
Secondly, the motherboard's serial number sticker...
I've got the same board in my (Proto?) Quadra 605. Mine has the ROM SIMM and the red button.
My serial number is XC336TQS12V. No serial number search can decode that serial, it comes back as being made in 1983. The back FCC label is stamped in and is not a sticker.
Interesting part is that...

"Apple unveiled the Lisa in late 1982 to selected outsiders. On 19 January 1983 Apple officially declared the Lisa a working system that would be deliverable in May 1983."
The lack of usual Apple branding makes a bit more sense, this was most...
I think this was a pre-production Lisa/ used by Apple internal. The components from the CRT forward don't have the "typical" markings. The rear I/O bucket seems to have hand labeled '3000'. Im guessing it was an engineering sample that was converted to a regular Lisa with spare parts. I don't...
It has a tag that says this product is approved by the FCC. If you peel the corner there is another tag below it. I need to carefully pull the corner and see what it says below it. I haven't seen a single picture of a Lisa with the the FCC tag. Also most Lisa's have the tag on the bottom of the...
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but the posts above have some important information. Ive got a Lisa 1 thats been upgraded to a Lisa 2/5 but the serial number is very different. The serial is B08B820200058, AppleNet No. 00100067 and MFG 82020.
From what I understand this machine was the 67th...
I got a steal on an SE/30 for $30 last weekend. When I went to the sellers house, the machine was fully working (without any audio). I took it home and opened it up to remove the battery as well as replacing all the caps. I ordered the caps online and washed the lobo in warm water to remove any...
Apple had a recall program where owners could get a new bottom case for free. I'm not sure if they will still honor that recall since the MacBook is 8 years old.
Ill post it here so others can see what we are talking about: http://www.ebay.com/itm/WORKING-APPLE-LISA-1-COMPUTER-WITH-TWIGGY-DRIVES-AND-PROFILE-HDD-/222495883594?hash=item33cdc9c14a:g:eLsAAOSwjqVZB-Hj
Now that you mention it, I see that the face plate is a light shade. When the seller sold...
Yep, my LCII had the same issue. When you unplug the speaker the noise stops. I cleaned the board with water and the problem has gone away. I have ordered new caps but need to find time to install them.
