Macintosh SE Hard-Drive setup and file tranfer basics. Help

Disk-based file transfer on a Mac generally takes the form of dragging/dropping a folder from one disk to another.  There are various levels of abstraction at play here, so it will help to zero in on exactly what you want to do and how.  But in general, these dsk images you speak of would be...

    CFFA3000 can't mount more than 2 images

I don't think there's any kind of ROM restriction on how many drives the CFFA3000 can host on a GS at once.  The version of ProDOS (or GSOS) can make a difference, though.  What OS are you booting and expecting to see the drives in?

    Apple Lisa disk images

Have you looked on asimov under images/applelisa/? ftp://ftp.apple.asimov.net/pub/apple_II/images/applelisa/ Ok!  Helpful.

How to boot Apple II Desktop/Mousedesk off of a virtual drive?

If you can load MouseDesk from floppy (which I don't know, I've never used it) then the version of VSDRIVE that overwrites the floppy driver ought to work (which is what I think A2CLOUD uses). I don't have a list... if you're overwriting the floppy driver, then any ProDOS software ought to...

How to boot Apple II Desktop/Mousedesk off of a virtual drive?

The serial drive driver occupies some memory that the deskop clobbers.  So that's why that approach won't work.  You'd have to find/make real floppy disks to run either of those desktop programs (or AppleWorks, for that matter) from the IIc - or get one of the SmartPort devices that have been...

    Which chips to buy

Uh oh - the magic smoke was released.  How sure are you all your replaced chips are oriented correctly?

Apple //e gives no Super Serial Card prompt

Not to the extent that it would affect tanuki65's situation, though.  The relevant issue is the DIP switch configuration - specifically SW1-5 and SW1-6.  Both must be ON in order to respond to Ctrl-A.  Any other config and you need to do Ctrl-I (that's the capital letter "i") in order to get the...

Apple //e gives no Super Serial Card prompt

You should be greeted immediately with "APPLE SSC:" when you do Ctrl-A.  The fact that it doesn't means the card is bad, the slot is bad, or maybe it's configured for printer rather than modem use.  Have you checked the DIP switches? Yes.  This will only help you if your SSC actually works...

ADTPro audio on a Retina MacBook Pro?

Most Apple II computers (not all) have cassette input and output jacks.  There exists some clever software that has the ability to transport disk images to and fro using audio through those jacks.  See: http://adtpro.com/connectionsaudio.html

ADTPro audio on a Retina MacBook Pro?

You'll need to buy a USB-based microphone input.  Not an endorsement of this particular one, but here is an example from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Technology-iMic-Audio-Device/dp/B000BVV2IC

Will an Apricorn Super Serial Imager be good for ADTPro?

Ah, now I see what you meant by saving $35 now.

Will an Apricorn Super Serial Imager be good for ADTPro?

Send me an Apricorn Super Serial Imager (it sounds like you pulled the trigger on your auction) and I'll try to add support for it.  PM me if interested.

Will an Apricorn Super Serial Imager be good for ADTPro?

My offer still stands - if you send it along, I can try to support it. Unknown.

Will an Apricorn Super Serial Imager be good for ADTPro?

Nope.  You want a real Apple Super Serial Card. http://www.vintage-computer.com/vcforum/showthread.php?47981-Apricorn-Super-Serial-Imager-with-ADTPro#post371111

    Apple IIe Trade - IIGS

It depends.  Both have their plusses and minuses.  The GS has a bunch of stuff built in that the IIe doesn't (serial card, floppy cards, faster CPU).  The IIe has a built-in keyboard and (according to me) more retro cred.  In terms of pure monetary value, it's probably not a good deal for you...

Apple III in need of some care

I'm not sure if the space between the two nubs needs to be clear... so a full axle might not work.  a nice tight-fitting bit of metal (perhaps as simple as a bit of clothes hanger wire might be the right size?) in a hole you drill would do well there. ...I guess this is why there are 3-D...

Apple III in need of some care

You'll need to repair the door.  The door/hinge mechanism is different in the external drive because it has a face that goes straight down, as opposed to the slope of the front of the console.  You'll have a hard time finding spare parts, so look into repairing the plastics...

First boot of a new IIgs - help!

Because ADTPro is intended to work both ways... both creating and extracting disks.  Not just playing games. :)

First boot of a new IIgs - help!

Yes, you're right.  You would still need the GS as the go-between since it has the built-in serial communications.  But at least you can get away with (for now) just hand-wiring up your MiniDIN-8 cable and a cheapie USB-RS232 adapter... I think that's your minimal cash path.  But to really do it...

First boot of a new IIgs - help!

You do have a case of "you can't get there from here," don't you? ;)   You will be unhappy with audio even if/when you get it working.  Yes, it's a line-in vs. mic amplification issue.  But it's slow; painfully slow.  You want to set your sights on serial.  Wire up a cable, grab a cheap...
