Gigabit Ethernet logicboard with Quicksilver CPU

From the link in the G4 Swaping thread http://www.jcsenterprises.com/Japamacs_Page/Processors.html it doesn't say it in the Sawtooth/Gigabit section but it does state it in the DA section "DA's may use Quicksilver processors, but +12V must provided to lug #4 of the QS processor daughter board" I...

Gigabit Ethernet logicboard with Quicksilver CPU

I just ordered a Quicksilver 733MHz Single CPU I plan on installing it in my Gigabit Ethernet Logicboard. From what I have read it should work as along as supply a 12V to the 4th mounting hole. It also says that normally the heatsink interferes with the second ata connector but since I have the...

Gigabit G4 in a ATX Case some question

I picked up a Gigabit G4 logicboard 400MHz CPU with heatsink for $8 and change to experiment with. I currently have it mounted in a Full Tower Alienware case, the heatsink that came with it is for the Dual G4 cpu card. The case was originally designed for a Prescot P4 has a huge exhaust fan on...

    SCSI woes

I figiured the 146gb dtive was a lost cause. I revived the ibm drive using linux to issue a scsi level format and it is working in both mac os and debian. Havent got around to trying the seagate drive but should come back aswell

    SCSI woes

Well on the IBM drive I think I am having some luck. Booted Debian and ran a sformat command on the drive and its currently finishing up. If it works I'm guessing HDT screwed the pooch somehow

    VRAM not working?

Maybe its me getting old but with the way it ditters? higher color to the 256 color pallete it still looks pretty good. If you switch to grey scale at 8-bit there is no image change aside from color. something about a 8-bit grey image has the same depth as a 16-bit color one.  And somehow I...

    VRAM not working?

the monitor is a 15in multisync LCD with a adapter with switches. From the way that reads I guess that means I can only do upgrade the ram to 1MB using 2 simms or 2MB if I fill all the slots then. Silly me thinking I could have 1.5MB

    VRAM not working?

I just installed 4 vmram simms in my 700 and it doesn't seem it be working still limited to same colors resolutions I was before. I've moved them around in different slots still nothing. Do I need to zap the PRAM or do something else?

    Best PRAM Battery?

I went to radio shack to see if they carried the battery and they do at $20 a pop, so I passed. I happened to be at meijer's the other day and saw a battery a CR2 same size and shape as the  1/2AA only rated at 3.0v though seems to be working in my Q700, no double boots and the clock is keeping...

Getting newer applications to work on System 7.6.1

I've been bouncing between 7.6.1 and 8.1 on my Q700. The main reason why I couldn't decide was that Outlook Express 5.06 which supports gmail doesn't work in 7.6.1 officially, it "requires" 8.1. So I decided to experiment with resedit. Using it, I changed the system version to 8.1. At first this...

    Another SCSI Question,

To be clear, I tried fwb toolkit 4.5.2 the drive is not there. Scsiprobe 5.1.2 hangs , Lacie Silverlinging pro 6.1 doesn't see the drive, apple system profiler quits with a type 3 error when probing for devices, pc exchange doesn't see the drive. I have tried the my original drive in the same...

    Another SCSI Question,

Thanks for the information on TPWR didn't know that. I've tried scsiprobe, patched Apple SC HD Setup, heck I've even booted a m68k Linux kernel and not there. Man this SCSI stuff is PITA, makes me apreicate IDE/SATA a whole lot more.   So I am out of Ideas on the 80pin drive luckly it wasn't to...

    Another SCSI Question,

The 80pin 146GB U320 Drive and adapter I bought earlier don't seem to work drive powers up but is invisible no matter where I put it either internally or externally. the external enclosure I have has active termination on it. when I tried internally I used a pass-through terminator no matter the...
