I like that idea. With two LCIIIs there's no reason not to have one of them running NetBSD. I just need an ethernet card for it to make it useful.
Thanks for the idea luddite.
Right, I was getting confused, about what I was asking. Too many strands in the duder's head.
For the FPU socket on the LCIII motherboard, a 68881 _won't_ work right? It must be a 68882?
With 36MB of memory, I turned virtual memory off thinking it would make it faster. I'm not talking about CPU intensive stuff. It's slow opening a small text file with teach text. Maybe I should reinstall 7.5 fresh so I can see if it makes a difference.
I've got an LCIII that has system 7.5.5 on it. The system is not a fresh install, but I've turned off most of the extensions. It has 36MB of memory. It seems pretty slow, and I was wondering if 7.1.1 would be faster. I don't have 7.6.
Any thoughts? Should I do a fresh install of 7.5...
I tried to find an active Basilisk community to ask this question, but it looks pretty sparse out there.
Does anyone know how (or if it's possible) to toggle out of full screen mode? Specifically using the linux version, but I'd be happy to learn if it's possible (and how) on any system...
And remind me again why you're trying to do this through two modems sans phone line? Can't you connect the powerbook to the linux box via a null modem cable on the serial ports?

I thought the OP was tongue and cheek. I mean, we're all bored forums users, and there's only so much fodder for 68k talk. However, the website design criticism was unnecessary.
Now the SE/30... there is an over-rated boring machine. ;)
Agree with Luddite across the board on this one.
TheNeil, your website looks fine. Building such a website is no small effort and it's nice to read the personal aspect of your content.
I also support Quadraman's comments about the LC/LC+ speed difference issue.
Yes, global warming ;)
I just wanted to try it. It seemed like a useful mod for people. I'd consider using my plus as a 24/7 client if I could get the mod to work.
I fixed the flyback diode, and behavior hasn't changed.
Tom, let me know if you have any new ideas, I'm happy to keep...
I'm pretty sure that this (how you describe) is how it is. L1 has pivoted 180 degrees on the non-C2 connection in the photo. Don't know if that might be making it hard to interpret.
Ah, I see. You are right. I'll fix that and test again.
Right. Everything seems well when the switch is...
There are ways to do it using a battery circuit and some hayes commands that turn off dial-tone detection. I don't have the details, but it's not a dead end.
