Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
I'm not sure why PPP doesn't do what you want Luddite. Obviously I'm missing something, but I'd like to know what it is.
*I* was hoping you were going to ask about the feasibility of porting uIP to system 4.1 or 3.3 :p
I was thinking that all forms beyond a single input and a submit button would be replaced with an icon that when clicked would pop up a modal dialog of the form. What do you think of that idea?
I agree with the no-table-support approach.
Image support, beyond the fact that I've never written code to display images, seems nice, but unembedded would be the way to go. The issue I have with images is there are so many layout images that are just unimportant. It'd be nice if there was a...
Yeah, anything that uses HTTPS is impractical. I have a google-weather client, that uses Google's api and displays local conditions/forcast, and I started an Google yellow pages client as well, but haven't finished it. Web APIs leave the door open for all sorts of specialized mini-internet...
I appreciate the feedback, but if you could rank all of the features I listed, it would help me out. I'm not interested in just people's top choices, but their bottom choices and in between choices as well.
That list again was:
* Image Support
* Forms
* Can download files
* Plain text...
The problems aren't with MacTCP, the problems are with Samba. For example, from http://home24.inet.tele.dk/ccadams/se/samba.html ...
"Do not close any windows as this crashes the Mac; also quitting MacWWW seems to cause a crash. Note that with System 6, MacTCP may crash when saving prefs for...
Please rank the following features in order of importance to you for a System 6 browser (maybe Equill will rephrase that so it makes sense) ...
* Image Support
* Forms
* Can download files
* Plain text layout
* Beyond plain text layout (ie, bold, font sizes, etc)
* Doesn't bomb when you...
Well, I'd like his email if you can find it. After reading the descriptions about its shortcomings, it makes me nervous about System 6/7 TCP development path I've taken for some of my projects.
Does anyone know what Samba's development was based on? From the descriptions I've found on the web, the specifics of when it crashes, it sounds like some of the troubles I've had with Peter Lewis's Think Pascal TCP code example.
As has already been suggested, GraphicConverter is a very good option. As an alternate option, I've had success with NetPBM. There's a macptopbm binary that is hit or miss. For that matter GraphicConverter sometimes has trouble with the older MacPaint screen captures.
I use vMac, but I'm not sure what your issue is. I run minivmac with my boot disk image followed by any other disk images I want available. I have noticed that vmac can be cranky about disk images.
If you want to post a link to the disk image you're trying to use, I can see if I can get it to...
Yes, but the source is available on sourceforge. It appears to be CodeWarrior 11, which I don't have, so I've not been able to build it.
Although, I can't imagine there's much left to do is there?
I thought Contiki was a 6502 thing, using cc65. Maybe I was wrong in assuming that. What would be a couple of the pros to porting Contiki to the 68000 mac?
I'm not saying that porting for the sake of porting isn't great, but how would it be better than system 6?
