System 6, Printing, Ethernet, Appletalk, Cups, LPR How???

I have a networked SE running system 6 that I'd like to be able to print from. It seems quite unlikely, but here's my setup... USB Inkjet printer connected to a router (lpd://192.168.1.200/L1). I can print to it from my Linux and OSX machines via Cups. I've read the following...

    System 6 Browser Development Opinions

Off the top of my head (ie "maybe wrong"), I think you want CurApName and CurApRefNum.

    MPW Question

Thanks everyone. I'm ready to take another crack at it now.

    MPW Question

I'm trying to use MPW for the first time. I'm trying to compile some source-code from Mac Tech. It's an MPW project, but the makefile calls for C, and in my MPW tools folder I don't have C, I have MrC and SC. I changed the C to SC and it complains that it can't find a included file. That...

    Is this normal or bad?

OMG, how did I just learn about this?! *That* would have been very useful to know about 20 years ago. :p

    And The Winners Are...

Lol On a serious note, it's a nice but expensive mouse-pad... How much of the proceeds does RetroChallenge get? I'd like to support RC, and need a mouse-pad.

    And The Winners Are...

Congrats to the winners. The mouse-pad looks nice. I have to say, I think PrintStar and Pukka should have been co-winners of the programming category and split the mouse-pad.

    MP 2000 wifi

Congrats. I've got wifi on my eMate. I agree that the drivers are a major accomplishment. I just wish NIE was a bit better. I've never liked it much.

    Mac-o-lantern

...and I'd rather win a gold medal than a silver, but it doesn't mean a silver isn't better than a bronze. Reading Mac128's post, and trying to understand the spirit of what he's saying, I don't think he's advocating you *not* try to get a non-yellowed case, but more, the value of very yellowed...

    Mac-o-lantern

I agree with Mac128 about the issue 100%.

    Any native HyperTalk speakers?

Not that I can help, but you might have been better served to ask this in the software forum. You might have gotten more eyeballs on it. Not sure. The vintage-macs mailing list on lowendmacs is another good place to ask questions.

A pointless question that keeps nagging at me...

Not that I disagree, but as an observation, this is contrary to TomLee's lowest-syllable-count assertion... "Five two-sixty" and "Six one one six" would be shorter. I bring this up only because I have 20 minutes to kill.

    6500 ROM Secret

Dennis, Nice info about the roms. Out of curiosity, why do you have the Powerbook 165 listed as "Really Wanted" compared to the rest of the PB1XX series?

    And we're done!

A little late, but here's my official thanks to Luddite for running the comp and thanks to Lorance for hosting the BBS. I had fun reading everyone's blogs and look forward to the next round.

An idea: TCP/IP to serial bridge (modem emulator)

Very many routers (and yes, I'm talking about the kind you buy at Home Depot) out there have serial ports *inside* them (note J6 and J7 are both serial ports).... http://devices.natetrue.com/musicap/12%20-%20Serial%20ports.jpg'>http://devices.natetrue.com/musicap/12%20-%20Serial%20ports.jpg...

An idea: TCP/IP to serial bridge (modem emulator)

I get what you're saying. Obviously everyone draws their lines in different places. I won't tell anyone how they decide what makes using old computers worthwhile to them. If one asks, "why not just use the new computer," then that's fine, but I can't relate to why they're trying to get their...

An idea: TCP/IP to serial bridge (modem emulator)

And uIP has SLIP support in it, so that's nice... 128K Mac -> uIP -> OpenWRT -> internet. Easy as pi.

An idea: TCP/IP to serial bridge (modem emulator)

Ok, I see, but I'm unsympathetic. ;) I'll buy that PDS ethernet cards, Scsi/ethernet adapters and the appletalk/ethernet adapters are hard to find, so we need another solution, but how realistic is it to need to hook up an old-mac to a router in a house with no other computers? Surely you...
