Okay, so I need to update one of my websites and, before I do, I thought I would present what is possibly the most useless piece of classic Mac OS software ever, the Pet Stone:
Pet Stone v1.2
This was one of (I think) three pieces of software I released back in the day. I tested it on a 68040...
Is that the one you have to be careful about getting wet? I remember when I was obtaining glow powder for some projects, there were ones that could not be mixed in with water-based paints because the water would do something to cause problems. They had glow powders that were encapsulated in...
From a Mac with Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard), I used to be able to print over the internal network to printers connected to a Mac running either Sierra or High Sierra (I don't remember which). Since the (High?) Sierra Mac was upgraded to Monterey, network printing no longer works. The Snow...
Very nice. I wonder why it has to be recalibrated on each boot? Seems like the configuration data isn't being stored for some reason. I don't think iBooks have PRAM batteries, do they?
Makes me wish I could get a touchscreen on my 11" MacBook Air, except without the humpback.
So far, my Newton hasn't developed a stickiness problem, but I do have a Flip video camera that has. After having made something else stickier by using isopropyl alcohol on it, I opted to jump straight to powder. In my case, I used mica powder which is used in rubber stamp production. I used...
Same here. I had it on my PowerBook 180c. But, I don't know what version of SoftWindows it was.
But, I did manage to install Windows95 in it. Was painfully slow though. I'm thinking I was maybe one of the first Mac users to install Windows95 on a Mac.
So . . . I think this is the first I've heard of this issue. Are the RIFAs on the analog board or in the power supply? Where? How many? And does anyone have DigiKey links for the appropriate replacements?
Is there anywhere where you can just buy the game? I'm not really interested in having a Steam account or needing to install the Steam app to play one game.
Does anyone remember what games would have come on the fruit iMacs? I think that would have been 8.5 or 8.6. I think Nanosaur or Nanosaur II might have been one. Not sure what the others might have been.
Thanks!
Haven't opened it yet, but I could not smell anything through the vents.
Also, I suspect this is perhaps the same problem that resulted in it being pulled from service circa 2010, so would caps failure have been an issue at that time?
At the office, we have a "dead" iMac G5, model A1076. I don't know the specs beyond that. What I remember is that, years ago, something in it died and the local computer/Apple repair store said it wasn't worth fixing, that for the cost of the parts/repair, you might as well buy a new Mac. So...
Dang. Just checked and all my PM 7200s seem to have the bezels for CD-ROM drives. Was hoping this could be the ticket to sell some for inflated prices on eBay. You know, because they'd be a "***RARE*** No CD-ROM Power Macintosh 7200!!!" 🤭
Definitely hold on to it until you find the right buyer. There are businesses out there that keep older equipment running because, as long as you can find the parts you need, it's often less expensive than buying something new, especially when older stuff might keep running for years and years...
