Which version of Quicktime do you use on your 68k?

Which version of Quicktime do you install on your 68k Macintosh computers? I have been busy setting up my old LC III for general use. System 7.5.3, which I am running on my LC III, comes with an old version of Quicktime by default. I wanted to upgrade Quicktime a bit, but I didn't want to...

    MacEKG

For pure geek factor, nothing beats MacEKG on a 68k Macintosh. MacEKG is a slick looking piece of diagnostics software that can be configured to run on every boot, once a day, or once a week. It has spiffy geek style graphics and it can even be configured to speak. MacEKG works by testing...

"Must Have" Stuff for Every Machine

I was just going through my old Mac software and I found MacEKG. So I want to add MacEKG to my list of must have software. There's something cool about hearing an old LC III or Quadra say, "Performing system diagnostics," at startup. [:D] ]'>

    Just got an LC III

All of this talk about tasty little LC IIIs, has motivated me to pull out the old LC III and load a bunch of games on to it. I've been going through my old Mac floppy disk collection for the better part of the afternoon and installing old games on to my LC III. I did a fresh install of System...

"Must Have" Stuff for Every Machine

Do you have any "must have" stuff that you install on every 68k or ppc Mac you own? If so, what are they? These are the things that get installed on to every Mac I own and use: - Networktime control panel goes on every Mac I have that runs any version of Mac OS prior to 8.6. Networktime...

    Memory for Quadra 700

There was a guy selling a Quadra 950 with 256MB of RAM about two years ago. I had pondered purchasing it, but decided to pass. Looking back, I should have grabbed it, as he only wanted $20 for it.

    Memory for Quadra 700

I want to max out the RAM in my Quadra 700. I have already maxed out the VRAM. What I need is a cheap source for 4 16MB 30-pin non-parity SIMMs. Anyone have any suggestions? I have tried Nexcomp, but at $24.95 per SIMM, that's going to cost me over $100 with shipping to get 64MB of RAM in...

I've realised that my 6100 is rubbish... :-(

Well, if you had a bunch of 6100 machines, you could do what this guy did: That's interesting. Of course, you'd have to surrender to your inner geek. ;D Here's three guys that did something similar. Of course, they used a 7100 and three 6100's. Still cool though, IMHO. [:D] ]'&gt...

Let's not lose our objectivity here. Linux is a great operating system. And I find it appalling that you would suggest that a person should just give up on their old hardware because their antiquated operating system can't quite cut the mustard any longer. If Linux can do what Mac OS...

With the right software? There are no decent http server packages for Classic Mac OS. The ones that do exist are slow and crippled. MacDNS, for all intents and purposes, is pretty much useless. Have you ever used Linux on a Mac?

Where do you get these batteries for $4? The last time I bought one (I bought two actually) was in 2005, and they cost me $16 each. Of course, I bought them from Radio Shack. 8-o

You will get great performance with Linux on old Mac hardware if you use the right software. I run Linux on an old PowerMac that I use as a server, and it runs circles around any classic Mac OS. Classic Mac OS makes for a lousy server of any kind. There's another advantage to running Linux...
