Quicktime Video Editing: Classic Mac OS

I probably have it on one or more of my various Apple Service Source CDs. If not, I'm almost positive I have it on a MacFormat or MacAddict CD somewhere. Problem is that I do have a need for support of relatively recent compression/decompression schemes. So that would pretty much preclude...

Quicktime Video Editing: Classic Mac OS

I'm using Quicktime 6.0.3. I was actually kind of looking for something other than Quicktime though. I have Strata Videoshop which was on a MacFormat CD. I was just wondering what else was available.

Quicktime Video Editing: Classic Mac OS

I'm looking for some software that will allow me to edit some Quicktime videos that I have. The caveat being that the software must run in Mac OS 8.6. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

A guy wants $2500 for a IIfx on eBay

Maybe not. Maybe he doesn't do drugs. Maybe he just sells them. I hear a lot of drug dealers don't actually use the stuff themselves. Cuts into the profits, if ya know what I mean. [:P] ]'>

But it has optional features not offered with the $50 computer.

    Localtalk

You could run a PPP daemon on the Quadra. You could connect a serial cable between the Quadra and the SE/30. If your SE/30 is running Mac OS, you would use MacPPP on your SE/30 to connect to the Quadra, which would, essentially, be acting as a serial to ethernet bridge. So the short...

    Localtalk

You could run SLIP or PPP on your Linux/NetBSD box and connect your Mac to the Internet that way. You'd need SLIP or PPP for your Mac as well, which is relatively easy to find. Using a null modem cable, it would be just like dialing into a dialup ISP albeit without the dialing.

Apple IIe PDS Card in a Quadra 950

As a person who has owned both a Quadra 950 and an Apple IIe PDS card, I can tell you that there is absolutely no way to put a IIe card in a 950. The IIe card requires an LC PDS slot, which the 950 just doesn't have.

What to do with an LC?

Actually, I don't have much space... I could stack the stuff around, but it really looks awful... And I can't really justify having a lot of unused stuff laying around. You might be able to justify it in your particular circumstance, but I can't. For you, it's obviously important to have...

What to do with an LC?

That's actually not a bad idea. I have an old eMachines motherboard kicking around with builtin video, sound, usb, etcetera. It's only 500MHz, but that would be fine for a little file server. The eMachines motherboard and a hard drive should fit in there no problem. But what about a...

What to do with an LC?

I should have mentioned that I'm getting rid of those too. And this horrible 17" monitor that Dell distributed under their brand name.

What to do with an LC?

A lunchbox? Like I said, it has no practical use. To get any practical use out of a lunchbox, I would have to get a job! And I don't expect I'll be getting one of those anytime soon. [:D] ]'>

What to do with an LC?

I have an old LC that is never used and too slow for any practical use. I was looking at it today, and it appears the capacitors are leaking as well. Which is probably the reason why there's problems with the sound. ie. The capacitors are located in the area where the sound circuitry is...

    Defragmenting

Don't know of any freeware utilities to defrag your drives off hand, but Norton Utilities does a bang up job of the task. I wouldn't expect you to have too much difficulty finding Norton Utilities.

    10bT Ethernet on G3s

Coincidentally, I also junked a 24 port switch with my 7200. Hmmm... I just recently added a 100Mb RealTek card to my 7300. The 7300 has a bad builtin NIC. If I recall correctly, NetBSD had issues with the NIC on the 7300. Has anyone ever managed to get Gigabit Ethernet on a beige box...

    10bT Ethernet on G3s

What to do with a 7200?

Yeah, well, so does keeping stuff around that never gets used. There comes a time when your home begins to look too much like a landfill and it becomes necessary to thin it out. In the grand scheme of things, there's very little difference between my junk closet and the landfill. Anything...

Which reminds me, Sonnet is having a huge sale on upgrades for these machines. You can get a brand new Sonnet 500MHz G3 PCI processor upgrade for $39. A brand new Crescendo 500MHz processor upgrade $49. Check out their website for more details. Sonnet Special Offers

What to do with a 7200?

Finally bit the bullet and trashed the old 7200. Had a bunch of other Mac stuff to toss too. Had an Apple Design keyboard that wouldn't let you plug a mouse into it, so it's gone. A bunch of old Apple 300i internal CDROM drives found their way to the trash too. As did a few other odds...

    White Pines Exodus Xwindows

It's Linux -- it'll use whatever you want it to use. When I was using M/IX, I used telnet. No need for encyption on a private home LAN, in my opinion. Yeah, yeah, I know. Good habits and all. I use ssh almost exclusively now.
