Happy to say that Daxeria of Macintosh Garden helped me find the MacSprint control panel!
The card gives a noticeable speed boost, but of course not as great as a proper accelerator.
This II came with a FH 5.25 sled so I picked up a proper HD to ensure it didn't go to waste ;)
@jonpurdy Wow, that's crazy you ended up with one too! Still on the hunt for the control panel but I'm hoping I'll find it soon.
@Trash80toHP_Mini Yup, it is for the 2400c! It's not groundbreaking in terms of port options, but it does have the floppy Molex cable for the external FDD built into...
Has anybody had any luck with getting these particular Seagate drives to work on a Mac with built in termination?
I have two that refuse to do anything under normal operation (but work fine with an external terminator). I've tried pretty much almost every mixture of termination jumper options...
Fixed a bad trace near the power switch and it *almost* works fine.
With internal video though, it gives a dark black (instead of gray) screen. Nubus video works fine. Where should I look at next?
Edit: Mouse movement also locks up after I reach the desktop but works fine beforehand using...
So update - apparently the death chime issue fixed itself. Now the IIci does the following:
With internal video - startup chimes and black screen
With Nubus video card - startup chimes and solid grey screen
(This is on my Apple Color Plus 14" which generally works great with IIci internal...
So I have a IIci here that has a particular issue. It has been recapped.
With a known good set of 4 simms (I've tried 1mb and 2mb groups of 4 in bank A) it boots with no chime to a grey screen, then restarts with a chime and death chimes (normal (not slow) speed)/black screen ~5 seconds later. ...
So I picked up a Macintosh II from my friend that has this neat upgrade in it. It's basically a cache upgrade for the II that is supposed to bring the performance up to an IIx.
Anybody have a lead on the software (control panel) for it? Unfortunately I can only find mentions of the upgrade in...
Picked up more stuff from same friend for free:
2 IIcis (both are pretty rough/non working - I've recapped one so far but there are some remaining issues)
1 Macintosh II (with Orchid MacSprint II cache upgrade, dead, replacing batteries soon!
2 Apple High Resolution 13" monitors
1 Multiple...
Nice score! Very partial to the 475. From my understanding this is an official upgrade, years ago I saw an image of a Performa 405 with the exact same LC 475 sticker (not applied over the original model name)
Thanks for the suggestions! Yeah, the F-line errors happen every single time on the applications that cause it.
As an update, I did try both versions of SoftwareFPU - I either get an F-line or address error, depending on the specific combinations of cache settings. When SoftwareFPU is loaded I...
The Q610 install set should have a Disk Tools disk with 7.1 that is bootable and has what you need. To be honest though, I don't bother with the Apple utilities and just use Lido or FWB HD Toolkit these days.
Install Me First goes straight to the installer so I don't think you can just bin the...
I did think of something. The Turbo040 came from Artmix originally, maybe it was a Turbo040i mistakenly flashed with firmware meant for the 040?
The chip does have a date of 1998.
Welp, Techtool reports it as having no FPU. I guess I can't really complain for the price I bought it for - unfortunately I have no other 040s at all. I just picked up a full 40 MHz 040, will report back.
It does look like there was a model without FPU, so I still find it strange that there's...
Yeah, exact same symptoms without the Turbo panel.
I haven't tried a new system install but I'll give it a shot! It is a relatively fresh install, but yes I only installed "software recommended for this Macintosh" so I do think you have a point. Thanks Bolle!
EDIT: I haven't checked, but I'm...
@Bolle Unfortunately I can't even figure out what firmware is installed as the CP crashes with an F-line error when i try to click get info.

I am running 2.3 of the CP (from LEM)
Re: software causing the errors, I was thinking this too, but on the IIci I get the...
Hey all,
I recently purchased a Turbo040 + Twinspark adapter (bundled) and I am having weird issues. The Turbo040 seems to work great but I get a "bad F-line instruction" error on about 90% of all of the things I've tried to run.
The SE/30 was recapped by me and had no prior problems before...
I posted on your Reddit post, but nice grab and welcome! You should save the cards and MB in the Performa though, based on the picture you posted it did look like it had some upgrades even if it isn't salvageable otherwise.
