    It just slides along the front of the battery and snaps In place, just make sure that the casing fits tightly together

     I have two batteries right now but the sliding bit on one of them was crumbling when I received it, I wonder if I can find one on Ebay.

    I have managed to do it but it is very difficult, there doesn’t seem to be much of a science to it, just cut it apart slowly and carefully.

    Very interesting, I’ll be buying some cells in the next few months so I can make my 2300c truly portable again

    The original apple specs for the type 3 put it at 12 volts

    If you have some choice I would go for the CS screen as they look much nicer and are not as prone to tunnel vision

    yes that's right, Battery Amnesia and Apple's own Battery Recondition, I'll try freezing both batteries tonight and see how long of a charge I can get out of them

    I have a pack open right next to me. There doesn’t seem to be any intelligent parts other than what looks like two thermistors that connect to their own contacts on the logic board, all of the charge circuitry seems to be on the logic board of the powerbook

    Yes it did. The 190 had a 9.5 inch scree while the CS had a 10.4

    The Duo’s battery is a 12 volt unit Do you think this idea of using that prebuilt pack would work?

    I'm not quite sure what you mean by fit between but the dimensions seem correct and it would certainly be easy to wire up, I might pull the trigger on a pack

    I am yes, It seems that the barrel connector could be snipped and the pack could be wired into the original battery housing, I don't see much that would stand in the way of this working, however I have a very knowledge of electrical engineering

    S-Video and ADB are physically and Electrically compatible so try looking for an S-Video connector either online or maybe of an old junk VCR or TV

    plus the preassembled packs with not have heat damage from soldering, Is there a specific regular care routine for NiMH batteries that extends their life?

    A lot of my research came from that thread, however a lot of the solutions outlined there were either inconclusive, expensive or relatively short lived, I am still searching for better alternative, but nonetheless a good link and at least I can find that thread without searching for it now.
