Well I did a really stupid thing and unplugged / moved an ADB wire while the SE was on. Now I have no KB or mouse. Dead Mac Scrolls indicates I blew a filter - Apple Part 155-0007-E. Mine has no E however.
Would anyone be able to help me source this chip? I googled the Apple P/N but didn't get...
Wally - it connected to what I think is Pin 1; it is on the marked end of the chip and has a dot above the pin. It was a single wire connector.
MacMan & redrouteone - closer examination today uder better light reveals "Mac Video Adapter" under the pins of the black plug on the side of this...
Does anyone know where to locate schematic diagrams for Compact Macs? Particularly need for an SE/30 logic board.
Or a list of what parts are referenced by board markings. Example what is "D1".
Can anyone identify what this is and what it was used for?
It was in an SE/30. The main power bundle from the supply connected opposite the red wire bundle on this board and then the red bundle went to the logic board. The small black connector was mounted in the expansion slot on the back...
Thanks equill. I have seen that site before and found it to be a good source of information.
I pulled the motherboard out and noted some white residue, so it got a bath last night. I reassembled this morning, and it boots up :) (at least for now)
This may be the first Compact that I have to...
I am slowly going through my Compact Macs to fix known issues and check things over...
My Performa 200 starts with jail bar lines. Thinking a possible RAM issue I pulled the two simms, now I get a checkerboard!
Can anyone point me the right way? I have a couple of Pina books but unfortunately...
Thank you guys. Your words of wisdom have saved a Classic from the bin. I ran Disk Tools and formatted the drive. System 7 is now installed and it boots from the HD.
For information's sake, I used the original floppy that kept giving Error 41 - all went fine until I installed the "print" disk...
Well I am trying another floppy. At least no error 41. But for some reason the HD is not being recognized. It spins up though. Any thoughts? This Classic is getting real close to being a parts donor...
I am trying to install OS 7.0 on a Classic. Everytime I boot up from the Install disk it goes through the happy mac and welcome screen and then I get an Error Type 41 warning. I tried restarting with extensions off but get the same result.
Anyone know what it's trying to tell me? There is no OS...
It is really easy to do, you just need a long Torx driver. The card that holds the RAM is at the very left corner when you are looking in from the back.
I just learned about this (some was from your comments!) http://68kmla.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=34727#34727
Thanks for the info guys! Now running at 4 MB RAM :)
EDIT: That was so easy and I had a whole stack of the memory sticks so I upgraded two more of my Classics!
I don't know if that powercord was original to the Classic or the Image Writer, not sure about what it does to value. May be just better to a collector - that was why I mentioned it because I hardly ever find them.
I understand some type of card is required to boost the RAM; not sure where to...
I got another Classic today from Craigslist. Came with Keyboard II, ADB Mouse and an Image Writer II. Even has an original Apple powercord.
Running System 7.1 with 2 MB RAM and 40 MB HD.
I am not sure if anyone here collects old calculators or not...
I got a Commodore 796M (electronic calculator) today at a thrift shop. It even had it's warranty card and instruction leaflet that describes it as a "personal mini computer"! It dates back to 1976. Not a bad scoop for $2.00 [:)]...
I have to say the 128K. Not only was it the first compact, but it also the toughest for me to find for my collection! It's also the only compact model I have bothered to restore to functioning status - I acquired a couple of non-working ones in my quest for a collectable example. :b&w:
