*RARE* 128K Sells for less than $1,000 on eBay

Glad to hear this - looks like I was in the "market" range with paying $250 last week for one locally. As for the RAM upgrade, I opened up one of my other 128K Macs the other day and was shocked to see a 512K motherboard! Actually it's the one that can be configured as 128 or 512 but this one...

    Major haul...

CDN $250.00 which sounds outrageous but I think considering the condition and all that came with it, it's a bargain compared to eBay :) It is my best 128K. And it was a fluke find too. I had replied to a freecycle ad for another newer Mac but lost on the name draw, and he emailed me asking if...

    Major haul...

Just got home with a nice conquest: Mac 128K complete with keyboard, mouse, external FD, original disks and manuals. Working well. Imagewriter. Not yet tested. Boxed MacDraw Lots of 3.5" disks Apple publication "Of the 260 million people in North America, only a fraction can use a...

    SE "SuperDrive"

Correct - I am looking at mine right now.

    SE

Dennis, I agree. From what the guy told me, it did sit for a long time. It's been reinstalled in the SE as it's booted fine the last few days. I like to keep these old machines as stock as possible. I found lots of cool old games on it too like Mac Pong and Mac Yahtzee. Thanks for all the help...

    SE

Well I pulled the hard drive and gave it a good whack or three and it booted. Doesn't sound very healthy though... I will find me some 800K floppies and copy the files and replace the Miniscribe with a 250 MB I have spare. Did I read somewhere that you can use a 1.4 MB as an 800K floppy?

    SE

I got an SE today through a Kijiji ad. It is the M5011 version. Came with a Imagewriter II. It may have a HD issue - the red light stays on and I hear nothing for drive sounds. It boots using a floppy though. All in all it looks to be in great shape :)

    Used Performa 575 picture tube

If it doesn't have bad burn-in, I would pack it in a box and store it; I am firm believer in keeping stuff "just in case". Some would just say it's because I am a pack-rat :) As you stated, these parts aren't becoming any more plentiful.

    Recent Newegg loot

Sometimes I pay for an old Mac but it still feels like a conquest when I do :)

So what about the famous Apple ][ series?

It is a separate large beige part - looks like a brick. You can see one in the picture of this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/Apple-IIC-Ext-drive-power-supply-cables-disk_W0QQitemZ320331384883QQihZ011QQcategoryZ80075QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem That one you linked to may be the internal...

So what about the famous Apple ][ series?

Do you have a power supply? Looks as if that is not included in the auction.

    Macintosh IIvi

Not really - just some that do require troubleshooting or more extensive repair (time consuming jobs).

    Macintosh IIvi

Well the fuse tests ok, and I put power across the battery holder but no go. I guess it goes into the dead Mac pile for now....

    Macintosh IIvi

Possible although I had let it sit about 3 hours before powering it up and it was not an overly cold day (I got home and found that Mr Postman had left it on my back steps). First thing I plan to do is check the fuse once I take it apart and locate the said fuse :)

    Macintosh IIvi

I acquired a IIvi the other day. Sadly, it expired within the first 5 minutes of being on :( I think the power supply is bad.

    Outrageous

I see our eBay seller (who shall remain nameless) is justifying his prices by stating that most (4 out of 5) Macs he buys through eBay are damaged in shipping, therefore his price is appropriate for undamaged systems. I've had several compacts shipped and certainly not had 80% of them damaged...

    Performa 630 has no CD-ROM?

I have an LC 575 without the CD-ROM. Apparently it is an educational only version.

Not a 68K Mac, but a Mac none the less

I acquired a Powerbook 1400cs today through an ad on Kijiji. Included manuals, system CD and the floppy drive unit, two power supplies and various disks. It's also got the colored paper inserts that Apple supplied to "customize" the look of it. Running System 8.1 with 60 MB RAM and a 650 MB HD...

    Portable!

Yes, the 4 MB sounds right - 1 MB on the board, and one card checks out as a 3 MB ram card. The other card, plugged into the PDS slot is a LXPi card from PSI. Searching on-line reveals it to be a card to "break Apples 4 MB barrier" and can raise the Portable to max 8 MB RAM. This Portable does...
