Snow iMac vs PowerMac 7300 G4

Update: I found a student in my school who is in need of a computer so in the spirit of passing the power of Macintosh to the next generation the iMac goes to him and I will keep the 7300.

Snow iMac vs PowerMac 7300 G4

That is they way I'm leaning now. The 7300 is used for word processing and some graphics using the scanner. It is actually quite fast suing OS 9.1. Another point is that the 7300 is easy to get into. The form factor is great. If the monitor ever goes I can easily get another unlike an iMac.

Snow iMac vs PowerMac 7300 G4

That's the way it seems to me too. Both machines have advantages and disadvantages. It will be a tough choice.

Snow iMac vs PowerMac 7300 G4

Very tempting. I would be breaking a self imposed rule of not going overboard with the number of Macs I have around though.

Snow iMac vs PowerMac 7300 G4

The DV is a keeper as a DVD player. The Grape is a possibility though. I hesitate because it is complete with the original software CDs.

Snow iMac vs PowerMac 7300 G4

Picked up from my brother in law who just upgraded to a new iMac. Unsure if I'll keep it. I may use it to replace my Power Mac 7300 which has a G4 400mhz sonnet in it. The iMac is a 600mhz with 256mb of ram, a CDRW, and a 40gb hard drive. The 7300 has 448mb ram, two 7200 rpm 9gb hard...

    Dell L667r Mini Tower

Another Freecycle find. That is two in about a week. It had Windows XP on it with 192mb of ram. I put Windows 98se on it instead and kept the 128mb simm leaving 64mb in it. I loaded as many of the Dell drivers as I could find and it works nicely. In the spirit of the season I decided to put...

I put 128mb of ram and a 13gb drive in it. It now runs os 9.2.1 quite well now. I have to decide what to use it for now.

    Free Grape iMac

Got it today. It is a 266mhz model. It boots fine from a CD and will not mount the hard drive. Only 32mb of ram. It had the software CD still in it. The printer is a grape 740i.

    Free Grape iMac

After some research I found out that the 400mhz DV model also came in grape. Maybe I'll get lucky. :)

    Free Grape iMac

I wonder which colors were the most sold. How rare is a grape iMac?

    Free Grape iMac

A local pickup from Freecycle. Comes with an matching Epson printer. No keyboard or mouse though. Bad hard drive. I assume either a 266mhz or 333mhz and maybe the printer is grape too. None of the later models were grape. If so could the printer be an Epson 740i? Will find out on Monday...

    Thinkpad T21

I can get one on a local pickup. The ad says it is 500mhz but I think it may be 800mhz. 256mb ram and Windows XP. Working battery. They want $125. Is it worth that much?
