Is it possible to turn an iBook into a Deck?

Okay, an iBook is out, so…what would it actually take? And I don't mean to reinvent the LC. For the sake of argument, say we've got the bones of a generic laptop. And all it's bits. Also for the sake of argument, let's assume this thing has some sort of a backup battery to keep the PRAM...

    Not Mac, but good

Why did I say wheelie bin? Because that's what HE said. Turned out to be a large tub, about three quarters full. I'm kind of glad in a way, because, I wouldn't have had the space to store that quantity of cables. Here's a rough breakdown… About half a dozen parallel printer cables...

    Not Mac, but good

Someone once said… "You can never have too many power cables." Might have been me, don't remember. However, I'm going to try and prove them wrong. But stuff still bagged, small bragging rights. Nick

    Not Mac, but good

Got a phone call from my Sister this afternoon, and when I was done talking to her, I talked to her other half, and he said he had a wheelie bin worth of computer cables left in his booth at work, many still in original packaging. Was I interested? Was I interested?! HELL YES!! You never...

    Upcoming Conquest

Room I don't think shall be a problem, it's just a matter of tidying up my shed. More. But were my parents upset. I have been good though, I've gone through a few boxes and sorted good stuff from the useless stuff, and the junk, which is innards of stuff that may be a useful source of parts...

    Upcoming Conquest

A Plus An SE 2x IIcx's A 7100 An 8100 A Dot Matrix Printer A whole bunch of SCSI gear Means I'll definitely have to have a clean out, and if I double up on either of the Power Macs and other stuff, I'll say here, but they'll have to be collected from Frankston. All that from an out of...

Is it possible to turn an iBook into a Deck?

:) A personal observation, then. But I remember when I saw a second hand copy of Pool of Radiance in a book shop, I've been a fan ever since, more of forgotten realms than dragonlance though. Anywho, as for my 'book->'deck idea, talk about killing someones enthusiasm for a hack, thanks guys.

Is it possible to turn an iBook into a Deck?

In defense of Shadowrun, it's actually quite good, IF, you forget you've read Gibson, if you can do that, it's rather a good mix of Sci-Fi and Fantasy elements. I do agree with you in part though, there are some shocking novelizations of gaming systems. But there is plenty of good stuff too...

Is it possible to turn an iBook into a Deck?

Haven't you guys ever read any William Gibson novels, or any of the Shadowrun novels? Okay, let me put it another way, turn a laptop into a (sub?)desktop. Both these 'books have video problems, but as far as I know still work. My thought was, remove the screen and any other bits I don't need...

Is it possible to turn an iBook into a Deck?

Okay, so I've gotten through a couple Shadowrun novels recently, good reads. And I was thinking how cool it would be to have a Deck. And then I thought, Hey, I've got a couple of G4 iBooks with video problems out in the shed, what if… What if I removed screen, keyboard, trackpad, and put what...

It's Blue, but so am I

Nah, they were all grey bits, there was one bit of black plastic, still, I'm happy to have pulled the RAM out of it, 2x256MB sticks, wow. Dunno what to do with the rest of it. iMacs sort of scare me a bit, one step forwards in design, a leap backwards in easy access. When I saw the thing had...

It's Blue, but so am I

G'day Mars, Yeah, it won't power on at all and gives off a warm plastic smell, so you're probably right as to the reason for it's deadness. Bits of brittle plastic dropped out of it too. I'll put it on the shelf till I need parts. Spewing, because it would have been a good machine to have in...

It's Blue, but so am I

I hope it's a temporary thing, because if it is, I've be a very happy chappy. Plus I've got a DVD drive that could go into this thing, chuck in some RAM…WOO! I'm not optimistic though, instinct tells me it's BER. Still It'll be fun cracking the thing open. Might have some handy RAMs in...

It's Blue, but so am I

G'day Bunsen, Dunno about legendary, but you do get the odd good score. And I don't just mean Mac hardware. Nah, it's not run by Outlook but I think if it was, the prices would be higher. Speaking of Outlook in Mornington, when I was there a couple of weeks ago, the place was looking really...

It's Blue, but so am I

Latest find, just today. At the Frankston Tip Shop And the more I saw of it, the more excited I got. Price was right. $5 Sapphire slotloader, firewire ports, VGA out. Looked reasonably clean. Even the PC-using friend i was with liked the look of it. Dead as a bloody doornail. ARGH! Nick

    Small Conquest

I've been around, popped in here every now and then, just had nothing to say. I've finally got power in me shed, so now I can start testing, bagging and tagging the collection. I want to try and get it done before summer hits. Nick

    Small Conquest

The other week, I did the Outlook recycling joint in Mornington. No Macs. But, there are Mac Bits 1x internal floppy drive on sled. 1x internal AppleCD 300 Plus on sled. 6x ADB mice. Just no Mac that they would have come from. Was strange. Oh, and I picked up a copy of Syndicate Wars in...

    Err… a Palm m515

Got at a local market last saturday. VGC, with cradle and leather carry case. The price seemed right to me, $50 (not a conquest, but…) I'm happy with it, anyway. I figured I'd be able to get along without the software CD, as most hardware vendors tend to have that sort of stuff available...
