I've only used IDE drives with OS 9 & 10 so I might be wrong on this.
Drive setup 1.x may need to patched to work with non-Apple drives.

I'm doing this off the top of my head. And I used Zbasic far more than MS Basic.
You need to use the OPEN command and treat the serial port as a sequential file.
OPEN "COM1" FOR INPUT AS #1
GET #1, variable1 ect
OPEN "COM1" FOR OUTPUT AS #1
PRINT #1, varible1 etc
In a statement before you...
I haven't bought any 50 pin SCSI drives since Jan/Feb 2007 but back then a 2 gig would run $15 to $30 on ebay. What are they selling for now? (I'd check ebay but the net nanny here in Iraq blocks ebay).
Thanks!
Well, I for one prefer PS/2 keyboards to USB. I still use PC-DOS (all my Windows computers dual boot DOS) and a lot of motherboards do not provide USB keyboard emulation of PS/2 ports in the BIOS. DOS USB drivers are scarce, $$, and take up memory.
It's kind of hard to run DOS without a...
Yup. If you use a Plus or an upgraded128k/512k/512Ke this drive is gold.
Took me awhile to get one and it wasn't cheap but well worth it. It's the ONLY way to use 1.4mb disks with a Plus that I'm aware of.
My guess is that it will not work. The video should be ok but ADB is a serial chaining protocol that is way different from PS/2 mouse and keyboard ports.
I tried it a few years back but could not get it to work with PS/2 and bought an ABD KVM box (Dr. Bott).
I was using an ADB to PS/2...

I was refering to the Apple II 5.25" drives on the Mac. Didn't think about the IIGS 3.5" drive. Sorry!
The Mac external 800 drive will not work on a IIGS.
Try a different VGA adapter. My guess is the one you have doesn't have any switches on it. Get one that has switches and set it for 640 x 480.
I had problems with a vga adapter with no switches on my LC that worked fine with my PM 9500.
AFAICR No. The drives have different interface specs and damage can occur if you hook up the drives to the wrong system.
I remember being told not to attach a Mac drive to a IIGS as it wuld be damanged.
If you want to avoid shipping charges just go to your local Radio Shack store and ask them to order it. Most stores will ask you to pre-pay but they will get it in a few days. That's how I have bought mine.
I also need older batteries for vintage photo flash bulb units (22v ect) and I was...
HeavyMeatlforGod,
Don't panic! All is not lost. Let's take them one by one. I won't ask where are your back-ups.
At this point do not install any more software onto either drive! Your priority is to salvage the files off of the 40 Gig SCSI. BTDT!
First the SCSI 40 gig. From your post it...
SOunds like an analog board has crapped out.
Do you get the bong start up sound?
