Thanks, @3lectr1cPPC. Not the magic smoke! I've never experienced that, actually. I had a "where there's smoke, there's fire," experience with a NOS Nubus ethernet card a few years back. The magic there was that my IIci wasn't ruined.
Sigh, I guess this has to go back. Comparing this pin to...
The 2400c adapter works perfectly. I did buy a replacement 1.5amp 2300c adapter...but it doesn't work (no hum, no warmth). The center pin feels loose but I don't have a multi meter here. Are the Duo power bricks known to fail?
I use a mSATA (in 2.5" enclosure) in a 1400c and a Pismo and its wonderfully quick not to mention quiet. So far so good. And yes, don't forget to disable Virtual Memory if you've got max'd out RAM.
To note: I used a Dogfish mSATA drive at 128GB and run it under 9.2.2
Phew, I'm happy that leaving it alone seems like the consensus. Thank you all for your help and advice.
I have interesting upgrade plans for this machine and I'm glad that this wasn't an insurmountable issue.
Success! Yet somehow I feel uneasy about it. Its reporting 1.5GB but as you mentioned, @mdeverhart, the errant pins aren't properly in the channels as the other are from above. I took the picture before trying to get the pins in a little more.
The bent pins are not at the same height as the...
Thanks, @mdeverhart. A little Saturday night surgery it is.
So odd that they're bent. The machine was scanner workstation for a design company and judging by the amount of dust inside, it wasn't rarely opened.
If they have worked with this monitor before, that's curious. For a bit more information: Which machine/OS? Do you have the drivers? Were the cards recently reinstalled? Maybe a PRAM reset would help. I might have the right drivers on one of my drives if you need them.
Out of curiosity, are...
Thank you for your quick reply, @LaPorta! That was great guidance; I agree that that seems to be the problem. To build up the image of what's happened, those legs have been bent about 90*?
How would you suggest bending them back up? Gently prying them back up and inline with the others?
My new-to-me 2002 QuickSilver is not seeing all its RAM. I've moved the sticks around and it appears that the slot nearest to the processor isn't seeing any RAM. Does this picture look normal? Are those two metal prongs suppose to be there in a QuickSilver?
Excellent to know. Thank you @3lectr1cPPC and @Johnnya101. I suspected that the computer would only draw what it needs but I would have really hated to be wrong and find out the hard way.
I've been determined to use that machine independent of its dock, despite the awful keyboard.
Somehow I have misplaced the adapter to my 2300c. I've spent hours looking for it and found the duo (hah, clever) battery charger clip-on but not the actual adapter. I haven't given up hope but I thought I might try to find alternatives just in case.
I see that the 2300c requires 36 watts and...
@Tom2112 Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that. Is it locking up with or without a SD card in the slot? I have yet to try my Sandisk version of it but will report back when I do. I'll try it in my 1400, 3400, and G3 with a SD card in.
I also thought that there is a key employed to prevent it from...
The issue is: will a high capacity SDXC card work in the SD PCMCIA adapter. A few on eBay state that the adapter can only accept cards up to 32GB. Or for that matter, will a SD card over 32GB work at all.
I'm not sure why there would be a size limit, especially if its going into a CardBus...
I have also seen the 332GB ceiling listed on most of those cards. on eBay I found a NOS SanDisk 4-in-1 PCMCIA reader without any size claims (but it also doesn't specifically mention SDXC, I think its from 2002 or so). I'm leaning towards buying a 256GB SDXC card to test it out. If it doesn't...
I'd like to sidestep the LBA shortcoming by using a 256GB SDXC card in a PCMCIA adapter but I'm starting to have some reservations on its effectiveness. From what I can tell, SDXC is mostly firmware locked to exFAT. I'd like to use this with 9.2.2
Before I buy a card, has anyone used this...
@Byrd thank you. That makes me feel much better. It didn't seem to be the same issue but I'm also not familiar with with. Before I get too comfortable, is this also likely to be an unfortunate outcome? Or does this issue tend to stay localized?
Yikes, I didn't realize that. That's an unsettling thought (looks at all the PowerBooks next to the 550c).
As of now, the stain is not visible when the display is on and isn't presenting the issue that far gone display do.
🥺 No! Say its not so. To this point, I haven't seen any 5xx active matrix with vinegar syndrome. A quick search has given me hope that should this be the case, its not the end of the panel. Is that the general consensus?
I tried to remove it today and sure enough, its not on the outside : /...
