Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
This card is also class 10. I'm curious to see how it goes.
Quick question: in 10.4 Disk Utility, how did you select the HFS Standard?
Edit: Found it! I didn't think to look under Partition.
Update: I found a firmware update for the Sonnet eSata card, which seems to have fixed the problem of importing large data sets. It wasn't listed under Firmware on Sonnet's support site but rather Drivers. So far so good.
Under 10.4 and 10.5.0 the card operated normally. In my testing the...
Good old 10.4 :giggle: Thank you for that description. I'm going to try that route. Do you recall the speed class of the SD you used?
It sounds like the slowness might be due to an issue between how 7.6 operates ATA allocation and how the adapter's controller does. With SCSI the OS didn't have...
@galgot Thank you. That's peculiar about 7.6.1 on these adapters. When you said you made these partitions on Mac OS 1.4, did you mean another revision?
Thank you for trying. When time permits I'm going to try out Sorbet Leopard on my Quicksilver and 12" G4 to see if its unique to this MDD.
One thing that I find weird about Leopard (and Sorbet Leopard) is that after repairing disk permissions, I can then check those repaired permissions to...
I replaced an ailing HDD in my 1400c with the SD card adapter pictured. From my research it should work, but it doesn't. Trying multiple SD cards of different types (cheap class 4 to SLC industrial class 10) with the OE 7.6.1 install CD, the OS can see the card and gives the correct size but...
There have been many attempts over many re-installations. All the same outcome.
The first was copying 209GB of music from an external LaCie drive via Sonnet eSata. My first attempt was dragging and dropping into the Library -> frozen. Then I tried going through the File menu -> Add to Library...
Well I jinxed it- I shouldn't have said anything about fun...
Any large data transfer causes it to freeze. No beach ball, no 'application not responding', just a good old fashioned frozen mouse. Stability so far isn't inspiring.
That is very cool. Yahoo Japan proxy bidding can be oddly addictive. Some of their Macware prices are so like but after fees, handling, and shipping- sure, what's another 10,000 Yen? I had actually forgotten that Pioneer made a clone.
My Apple CD 600 is very picky about reading CD-Rs. Long...
Bingo...Its not a bootable SATA card sadly. I should have checked that first. Well, problem solved! I took your advice @beachycove and didn't go through the partitioning process again. I also didn't use CCC as the R15 page at MacintoshGarden suggests. I tried and it didn't restore anything, just...
Thank you beachycove & jdlanza. I've tried it again and it won't do it. Amazingly frustrating for what should be something simple.
Tiger on the HDD sees the SSD on the SATA controller and Startup Disk sees it presumably as a valid boot volume because its on the list of available boot volumes...
I've never used one of those printers but first to mind: does it have the right cable and is that cable plugged into the right port? Is it ok if the LC starts up with the cable connected? If its not that, it could be an extension or Chooser issue.
At the time, I could rarely get hot-plug a...
@beachycove Could you describe your process? I downloaded it, unzipped it, and prepared the target SSD (a different drive on the SATA bus) with a single partition in Apple Partition Map format, then used Disk Utility to restore to that partition. But mine either won't restore properly or will...
I'm getting close to this myself. Yet I keep reading posts over at MacRumors and on YouTube, praising the build and apparently not having any issues downloading the right copy. My MDD 1.42 Rebuild is so close to being done..this is the last step (or so I thought).
Has anyone else encountered issues while trying to "install" the labor of love that is Sorbet Leopard?
My original attempts restored correctly but the computer could see no system on it and would flash the ? at boot. My second attempts with another download (from Macintosh Garden) will not...
Mine is using a OWC SSD with the SATA/IDE adatper they bundle for "legacy" machines. I doubt its their own design but it worked from the start. If I recall correctly, the adapter does have jumpers and I suspect it came configured to mimic the original HD.
Action Retro on YouTube used a mSATA...
A few months ago some of you may remember that I ran into issues loading FCP 4 on my newly acquired Quicksilver. I'm now having the same issue on my trusty MDD; beach ball at "Loading Audio Filters."
What the two machines have in common is a flashed Silicon Image SATA controller, Samsung SSD...
That's quite a find! To date the only "street find" I've ever come across was a Gateway 2000 CRT out in the rain. In college there was a giant pile of late '80s Mac (almost all IIci units) being discarded but Facilities wouldn't let me have any. Did I think about scaling the fence at night? Oh yes.
Do you know of any places that could do that? If you had to guess, would you say less than $500 per panel? I've thought about this option often as I watch tunnel vision begin. With newly made RAM, SCSI HD alternatives, and battery cell rebuilds, it seems like the last big problem is the...
