You could try booting with the option key held down and see if it has mac os 9.
Many Pismo's get chucked in the belief that they are kaput.

Yes, I have a 7600 and its a beauty.
Quite expandable for a machine 15 years old.
Upgraded the processor to a Sonnet G3/400mhz
Memory upgraded to a staggering 1GB.
VRAM has been maxed to 4MB
It runs Mac OS 9.1
About the only thing I have not done yet is upgrade the HD which remains at 1GB
Macvision image capture device arrived today.
Only problem it is missing the Mac serial adapter.
On the plus side, I do have a cable that is RS-232 to mini Din-8,
Not really sure where to go from here, but I think I need
a Serial RS232 9 Pin Gender Female to F Adapter Changer.

I booted the LC630 via an external scsi drive with Mac OS 8.1 installed.
I used Drive Setup 1.4 and yes I did have the first boot partition initialised standard and less than 2GB
btw with the scsi drive performance felt way snappier and is quite spacious at 36GB, but being an external drive...

1:Standard:Running Mac OS 8.1 circa 2GB
2:Extended 37.2GB
3:Extended 37.2GB
It is also running higher RAM than Apple Spec @ 132MB
