Figured I would start my own Conquest thread. I just made what is probably an impulse buy, but for the condition and the price I just couldn't resist. For $60 I picked up a working Powerbook 5300c. I know the bad rep this model has, but I decided to take a chance on it.
Just opened up the SE again and it turns out that the motherboard end of the floppy cable was a little loose. I reseated it and now the floppy drive is working again.
Oh and I was wrong about the location of the caps. It's the analog board not the flyback transformer. I took some pictures of...
I think I will just leave it with OS 9. Maybe one day I'll pick up a G4 if I feel like exploring PPC OS X, but for right now I think I'll focus on other Mac related projects.
So a few moths ago I bought an SE with 800k internal floppy and 20 MB internal HDD. It worked for about a week before problems started. I was trying to install Word 5.1, but it wouldn't install unless I removed all anti-virus software so I deleted the Norton software on the HDD. When I...

I used to partition my hard drives on my old PCs, but I know that the software I used won't work on Mac. Is there a partitioning tool on the install CD or will I need a third-party solution?
Hello,
About a year ago, I bought an iBook G3 dual USB version that had a dual boot of OS X 10.4 and OS 9.2.2. It was working great and I loved the ability to switch between the two environments even though I used OS 9 more because that's what most of my Mac software required. One day I...
Good to know. 240p doesn't bother me, so that's fine. I like playing around with old multimedia apps, I do that a lot on my Windows 3.1 and Mac OS 9 setups.
Forgot that some already have the card. I guess I should have re-phrased my opening question: "is this a good video capture card?" instead of "should I buy this?" I obviously know it's not HD, but is it good by SD standards?
Also, forgot to mention this in the opening post, but the ebay...
Anyone here ever used this card? It's a video capture card for select models of Quadras, Power Macs, and LCs. It supports s-video and composite and it allows you to use your Mac as a monitor for game consoles as well. I saw it on ebay and it looks pretty neat, but I would have to buy one of...
Hello,
A few months ago I purchased a Powerbook 100 complete with manuals, case, and floppies for $25 at a local flea market. It has many problems though, one of which being the speaker (at least I hope it's the speaker and not something else). Every time I turn on the PB, I hear a static-y...
