Hello all,
I decided to create this thread because of an idea I had and I wanted to know if this idea would be possible. The idea came to me while I was using my SE a couple days ago. My SE only has an 800K drive, so when I want to back up the documents I created to something like an SD or CF...
I haven’t used the FireWire port in about a year, but it worked when I last used it. The only ports I never tested were the microphone and modem. All the other ports work. I have a USB 2.0 card and gigabit Ethernet card in two of the PCI slots, so I don’t use the built-in USB 1.1 or 10/100 mb...
Hello all,
About a year or so ago, I saw a Power Macintosh G4 on ebay that had some rust on the case. After searching online, the consensus seemed to be that rust on a computer case isn't a big deal, so I went ahead and bought the G4. What I didn't notice until recently, however, was that the...
Splicing wires isn’t something I’m comfortable doing. Thanks for the suggestion though.
The more I think about it, the more getting another adapter makes the most sense.
The brand for the adapter I have now is Belkin. Think it was made in 1995-1998 (‘95 because of the date on the box, but...
Hello all,
When I bought my Centris 650 a few months back, I also bought an AAUI adapter so I could hook it up to the internet as well as transfer files with my OS 9 machines if I needed to do that. The adpater, which was NIB when I got it, worked fine for a while, but I think there must be a...
As promised, I'm finally giving an update about the shareware CDs I bought. I finally got around to uploading some disc images of the shareware CDs I bought that weren't already on Macintosh Garden. The CDs were Shareware Breakthrough, Shareware Breakthrough 2.0, and Shareware Breakthrough...
One thing I noticed while removing/replacing these batteries is that if you’re not careful, the plastic on the top half of the battery holder can snap off.
Well it turns out I needed a new PRAM battery, so I bought one off of ebay and things are working as they should. I noticed that since I installed the new battery that the display works correctly even without installing the Basic Color Monitor extension.
You’ll need Leopard Assist to install 10.5. I recommend using a separate HDD for OS9. I tried installing both 10.4 and OS9 in my Sawtooth on one HDD and OS9 froze on me when it booted up for the first time after the installation.
Hello,
I recently added a Centris 650 to my collection and am having a bit of a conundrum regarding 32-bit addressing. I removed the PRAM battery the first day I got it. It wasn't leaking, but I didn't want to take any chances. Unfortunately, 32-bit addressing must be a PRAM setting because...
Thanks to Jinnai, I now have a total of 32 MB of RAM in the Centris! I also finally figured out how to make the green tint on the screen go away, thanks to an old thread I found here. I found out that I needed Apple's Basic Color Monitor extension. I found a copy of it on Apple's old...
I put the old 8 MB RAM stick back in and everything is working again with 16 MB of RAM. I wanted to upgrade the RAM because I thought I would need a lot of RAM for Netscape. I bought an AAUI transceiver for this purpose. Turns out 16 MB is fine as long as virtual memory is turned on. Problem...
