    LC II hard drive question...

I have a dead LC II. I'd like to see if the hard drive is still good and if possible, copy any data off of it. However, the connector is most definitely not IDE as it has about 1/3 more pins than a typical IDE drive. What is it and can I convert it in any way?

    snd resource/file converter?

I need an 68k or PPC utility that can convert snd resources and files to another format, preferably wav. Does such an utility exist?

I need power supply and hard drive infor for an orginal iMac

I have the motherboard for a bondi blue 233 MHz iMac. I remember that this Mac cannot use a drive bigger than 6 GB for a start up disk. I remember trying to partion a larger drive for this purpose and could never get it to work. Where can I find such a small IDE drive? Also, the power supply...

How best to showcase classic Macs to non-believers?

I hate to be a naysayer, but you're probably not going to impress many people. I grew up on with the Mac and I have quite a bit of affection for the classic Mac, but it really doesn't compare to today's computers. The only part where it shines is boot time and kids could care less. People who...

Unstuffing a .sitx file under 7.5?

Thanks for the tips. I finally got this to work under SheepShaver (what's with that name?) and OS 8.6. This has been incredibly frustrating. But it's done, I'm relieved, and after weeks of trying to open a single file, I can finally start my project... :approve: Thanks again!

Convert JPG or PNG to MacPaint

No, it is because Bill Adkinson, who also wrote QuickDraw, was a programmer, not an artist. More to the point, there is no desktop in MacPaint. Nor are there any movable windows. It takes over the entire screen and OS. This was made before multitasking arrived on the Mac. To the original...

Unstuffing a .sitx file under 7.5?

I cannot transfer directly from the Windows hard drive since the "drive" that HFVExplorer creates is actually a file. The only way to get anything onto that drive from within Windows is to use HFVExplorer. However, it tries to be helpful and checks the validity of the files. I do not need it or...

Unstuffing a .sitx file under 7.5?

    Not expander, StuffIt Standard.

Unstuffing a .sitx file under 7.5?

Thanks, but that doesn't work. HFVExplorer says that the file header is corrupt (bad name). :(

Unstuffing a .sitx file under 7.5?

I naively thought that StuffIt would unstuff StuffIt files. I need to access the files in a .sitx file and StuffIt 5.5 doesn't recognize it as a valid archive. Doing a little research, it appears that this file requires a later version of StuffIt that only works on OS 9. Naturally, I only have...

I did not know that. Thank you!

I need a version of StuffIt Extractor for OS 7.5

I'm using an 68K emulator. The program I have to edit the drive in Windows will not allow me to move the only version of StuffIt Extractor I can find, version 5.5, to the Mac's drive. I keep getting an error stating that the HQX header is missing. Where can I find a working copy? The Mac is all...

Mac Plus video signal details needed.

Right. Vsync stay high until retrace, at which point it drops to low (once per frame). Hsync is a little bit more confusing for me. This changes once per scanline? I think my best bet is to provide a clock input to the FPGA of 7.8336MHz. This would be the series of operations, greatly...

Mac Plus video signal details needed.

Correct me if I am wrong here... From reading the classicmac2 PDF in more detail, it looks like the video signal is a series of TTL pulses, but inverted, i.e., 1 = white and 0 = black. Hence, the inverter, U2. The horizontal sync signal is a series of TTL pulses that basically acts like a 22KHz...

Mac Plus video signal details needed.

Very good points. I never considered how to read a single horizontal line... I do understand that I cannot save the data to disk; that was merely to explain what I want to do. Clearly, I will have to use the sync lines, but only to determine where in the data stream the pixels actually are. I...

Mac Plus video signal details needed.

I'm going to use a 640x480 monochrome LCD. Its the smallest that I can find that is big enough to fit the whole screen image. Because of this, the h and v sync signals from the Mac will be useless, so the FPGA will have to create its own for the LCD. Even if the LCD was the same size, I...

Mac Plus video signal details needed.

My Mac Plus' analog board went out. While I could just replace the components, I thought it would be much more fun to switch out the CRT and analog board with a custom designed power supply and a FPGA controlled LCD. What I need to know is how the video output is structured. The FPGA will...

    Mac Plus Making Ticking Noise

I have a non-functioning Mac Plus that I'm going to start working on. I have that same tick tick tick, but its coming from the power supply. I'm guessing a bad cap or two.

What is the purpose of the extra socket on a LCII MB?

Looking at the data sheet for the 68882, available from FreeScale, the '882 can be interfaced with an 8-bit, 16-bit or 32-bit bus and it even shows how. Heck, if you really wanted to, you could add an '882 to any classic Mac without one.

What is the purpose of the extra socket on a LCII MB?

The 68882 in the PGA package will not fit those holes. Those holes are for a PLCC socket. I'd have to find a 68882 in a PLCC package. Thanks for the link though! Great source for older MC chips. I was hoping to get my hands on a 68040 or 060 for a robotics project.
