For the external Outbound floppy, there's some kind of board between the cable and the floppy drive. I don't have it handy, but could pull it apart if that will help. Not sure how an internal floppy (no HD) Outbound would be set up.

Just a note on an issue I had with my setup - I have a Shiva Fastpath 5 that was sitting between my LocalTalk network and the machines serving things on the Ethernet side. I couldn't see any of the shared resources until I tweaked the Shiva; it was eating packets. I tickled a few things around...

I got my pair running this weekend (thanks for the help, @cheesestraws ) and they work great! Very much recommended!

Welcome to the club! :) When I got mine a while back, it also had had the quad board replaced by a G3 accelerator card. Mine came from a print shop, so it made sense that they would have upgraded to keep the machine as "useful" as long as they could. It took me a _long_ time to find the quad...

As stated above, pretty sure Cube needs the optical as Master and the HD as Slave, but sounds like you are past that already....

@glay78 - thanks! I will check those things out - they sound very plausible. I could tell the new axials were a touch larger, but didn't think to check if they caused any deflection/bending of the board.

Have completed the recap of a backlit Portable. The machine boots, sound is good, screen is good, etc. Boots from external SCSI drive. The issue I'm having is no matter what the application or text box, whenever I type more than 3-4 characters on the keyboard, it either drops to the ROM...

There was a member (parism) on Cubeowner who made brackets, but they were not 3d printed. I know because I have one. It looks more carved out of plastic than anything. Anyway, this bracket is available on thingiverse.com and says it will work in the Cube, but I've not tried it...

Welcome to the journey! It took me two non-backlits to make one good one. When I found my backlit, I got lucky and all I needed was the recap and a new battery. Working on refurb of a backlit now for a friend of mine.

I have organ donors, however the internals might not be in much better shape. I could pull a fuser assembly from one if that would help.
