    Performa 630 J14 connector?

Well dang, I wish this 630 would have had the DOS compatible part still in it. :)

    Performa 630 J14 connector?

Picked up a couple of Performa 630 computers and one of them had a motherboard I had never seen before. In addition to 2 memory slots, it also has a connector at J14 that looks like the video-in slot but smaller. I don't see this referenced in the service manual. Does anyone know what this is...

    G4 MDD not booting

@mmu_man Just an FYI, the new CPU module fixed my problem. The G4 MDD boots and works great now. I wonder if the cooling on these become compromised over time with dust and dried-up thermal compound? Anyway, the dual 800 CPU module is working, though I would prefer to have a single 1.25...

    Quadra/LC/Performa 630 Power Supply Re-cap

Yeah, I always put a heat sink on the 040 and on the valkyrie (video) chips.

    G4 MDD not booting

Any updates @mmu_man? The PSU in this MDD is a Samsung and outputs good voltages, but I decided to re-cap it anyway. After doing so, I still get a black screen, no bong, and then fans rev into over drive. I took off the CPU heat sink and WOW, the CPU was HOT HOT HOT. I'm thinking maybe a fault...

    Radius Accelerator 16 Installation Question

I have one of these and didn't need to "bend the rails" to install, but rather flexed the metal chassis wide enough to fit the logic board back in without sliding it like you would normally do. it's tight, but works fine.

    G4 MDD not booting

Just picked up a dead G4 MDD with similar symptoms. Going to start diagnosing this weekend and will post if I get any signs of life.

    Power Mac G3 worth it?

Wow! This post got necro-bumped. I did end up buying the G3 desktop (2 of them actually) and combined them into a single, very nice specimen. I do love the machine, just wish the plastics weren't so brittle.

Reverse Engineering the Macintosh LC III Logicboard

A very royal LCIII! Looks awesome in purple! Really impressive all the reverse engineering that goes on in this hobby. Very cool stuff.

Picked up an Indigo iMac G3 from a sidewalk junk-pile!

Lucky trash find! I never see stuff like that here in Seattle! It's always just an old couch that's been sitting the rain for days. Yuck!

    Macintosh IIsi Retrobrite Method?

Immersion method works well. Be sure to pop out the rainbow apple logo before taking a dip in peroxide!

Potential game ports for B&W Macs

I've always thought that classic Spectrum games would look quite good on the Mac's 1-bit screen.

    Retrobrite indoors?

Peroxide and metal don't like each other, so it's always safe to remove any metal shielding before dipping your plastics into peroxide or you'll have rust to deal with.

Reverse Engineering the Macintosh LC Logicboard

A clear LC case would be very cool for sure. In your OP, you mentioned eventually working your way through the whole LC series. Curious if you plan to actually remake each model, or make some sort of "new hybrid LC" with features you like/want? Looking forward to your tests!

    Performa 630 compatible CD drive

Not sure which CF card adapter you are using, but I'm using this one in my Performa 638CD: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0026OYEEQ To make it fit, I designed a simple 3D print mount: https://www.tinkercad.com/things/e2Cub52P3B6-performa-630-hdd-mount/ In order to install everything (it is...

Reverse Engineering the Macintosh LC Logicboard

Wow, that was fast! Hopefully your first build won't have too many issues. :) I love the LC form factor as well and it's great to see these projects. Eagerly watching this. :)

    Performa 630 compatible CD drive

I have a 630 bumped to 40MHz and it's nice having a compact 040 machine with built-in CD and floppy with external SCSI support. With a CommSlotI Ethernet card, it's on the network too. Not the best computer back in the day, but a good retro 68k Mac in 2021!

    Performa 630 compatible CD drive

Yeah, any SCSI CD-ROM drive should work, though you will need that funky Apple adapter board that fits into the SCSI and power molex and adapts it for the 630's edge connector. You can probably buy those on eBay, but they might be pricey too, dunno. :( Here is a picture of one taken from a...
