Internet Explorer 5.5 for MacOS 9

Browsing around, I stumbled across: Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5b1 (5501) for MacOS 9! Even if it was a beta-version I was really wondering about this. While my 5.0 version is from 22. March 2000, the latest update to version 5.1.7 is from juli 2003. But this beta I got is from first of Juli...

New Gecko Browser for OS 9

PM 9600 (G4 800), MacOS 9.1, around 50 to 55 MB with 20 tabs opened, that´s between 5 and 10MB more than WamCom. This is my mainmachine which I use for everything, I strictly use OS 9 (and sometimes OS 8.6). Many big pages (youtube, ebay, ...) run much better and faster with Classilla. I´m verry...

New Gecko Browser for OS 9

That´s not a problem of Classilla, it also heappened with Mozilla 1.2.1 (the latest official release) and with WamCom (Mozilla 1.3.1 based). It´s that ugly phpBB and occured with the change to phpBB 3.0 at many forums. I was always wondering why even 68kmla didn´t use a style which is usabele at...

    DVD Solutions?

Who told something is wrong? Their support tells SATA card cannot be used in 5V PCI Slots, and ATA/133 doesn´t reach ATAPI standard for DVDs, it´s just for harddiscs. If you got a DVD burner connected to your ATA/133 which works well, give me information to trust you more than Sonnets support...

    DVD Solutions?

I know the thread from last year ;) But I got no real answer if everything worked well. I also can use my Projovian - with sometimes some data-loss. That´s too much money for testing along, ... As I´m now looking for a DVD, I will not test all other SATA cards as long as somebody shows up and...

    DVD Solutions?

My PM9600 needs a DVD & DVD-RAM burner. So I´m asking you today about working setups you use. The possibilities are: 1) SATA? There is still no SATA PCI-card working in any PCI Mac (except G3 up) because of the PCI 2.0 (5V) specifications - is there? So this is no solution. 2) IDE Many...

    PDF Readers for 8.6 & 9.x

I also use Acrobat Reader 5, as I don´t know any other reader. ;) But the question was, if there is any other reader in existance, ...

    PDF Readers for 8.6 & 9.x

There are some PDF writers out there like Jaws, Print to PDF, ... but I wonder if there are any PDF viewers in existance, beside Acrobat Reader because I´ve never heard about one. Do you know any alternative PDF viewers?

    Maxing out the 9500

Which card? The Sonnettech? An PC-Card? (My Projovian also worked for a while, but not booting from Oldworlds. Later I figured out that some files where damaged, ... )

    Maxing out the 9500

My informations are: My Projovian also doesn´t work with "Oldworld Macs". Like as the SeriTek and Acard PCI-Adapters seem to work only with PCI 2.2 (from G3) not with PCI 2.0 (-9600). If anybody got a PCI SATA-Card working within an Oldworld Machine please tell me how!

USB 2 in old world macs

Maybe we shoul´d go to "The Lounge" Forum ;) No, that´s not what I am demanding! But the Idea of pushing people to buy new stuff is what makes me stay with OS 9 as long as possible and never using OS X. Apple creates incompatibilities without any need - that´s fact. OS9 vs. X, PPC vs. Intel...

Really cheap Gigabit Ethernet for OS 9

Look at this: Macintosh In Austria ( http://www.carrier.co.at/res/mac/index.html) pointed at Realtek Semiconductor – Gigabit-Ethernet-Drivers for Mac OS 9 The RTL8169S-Chip is to find at many cheap Gigabit Ethernet-PCI-Cards like the GNC-0105T from Level One (tested under Mac OS 9) or the...

USB 2 in old world macs

Come one, they forced Opera to stop developing their browser for OS9, they provided QuickTime 6.5 for Windows 98 but not for OS9 etc. etc. So of course my need of actual Software changes slowly (!), but apple forces developers to stop development for older systems. It´s the same with USB 2.0...

USB 2 in old world macs

That´s absolutely nuts. Why do we allow Apple to force us leaving our well working systems (like PPC, OS9 or even 68k) Amiga people heave their USB since years. Also the Atari community was able to get USB 2.0 working at 68k - so where are the coders? Or maybe we should start collecting for USB...

    crazy ram in 9600

O.k. you where right, first I didn´t get your point. But I used 1 GB of RAM in PM 8600, 9600 an UMAX S900 without any problems anytime. And because of the working systems at other volumes it was clear to me that the problem is not about this Ram-VM-Limit. But thank you for the informations in...

    crazy ram in 9600

Solved the problem, … ;) Today I had time to "play" with my computer. So I began taking off some Ram as intended. Whith 512MB installed, my system used 400MB Ram. With 128Mb my System used 114MB, ... hmm Than I began with the Preferences (because I knew from earlier tests that it could´nt...

    G3 owners rejoice!!!

O.k I found the box. It´s a "Cherry1394". The Model Number is 69121 (1394+USB2.0+ LAN Combo Card). Crazy the german description at my 2nd Link above says "not for Beige G3" but that´s exactly where I use it without any problems. Is there anything about a beige G3 what can make PCI-Cards working...
