As far as I know, there are just around 150 units 1 GHZ cards. I read something about Sonnet got no 800 MHz G4 processors anymore, and Freescale offered therefore some 1 GHz models for the same price. Than Sonnet equipped their last Crescendo 800MHz batch with 1 GHz prozessors. I am very sad...

You are right about the RTL. I had a quick look at my above mentioned PCI card, and confused the chips. The USB should be the NEC D720100AGM. Sorry for any inconveniance I may have caused.

PCI USB card w/ 8.6 support?

Every USB Card with an RTL8139 chip schould work. You need also USB Adpter Card support from Apple. The best solution for me was the "LMP All in One" card with FireWire, USB and 100 Mbit Ethernet at one PCI 2.0/2.2 Bus (3,6 and 5 V) It is an Cherry1394 Model 69121 card.

Beside the question, if you need a new Flash chip or not, I´d like to point at the fact that everything is onlyne at Adaptecs page! A little bit tricky to find, but great support. Just go to "obsolete products" at supportpage and scroll down to "SCSI for Macintosh"...

Sound IN visualisation under OS 9?

Take Pixel Toy. The possibilities are really huge. You have to understand the concept, and play around a little bit, but than it will suit to every possible music genre. I´ve done live visuals at several events with it - great software! http://www.lairware.com/download/pixeltoy.hqx

    Classilla 9.2

@ mx-v, of course it would need a kind of foundation, or better, a real non-profit organisation. This message here was just a first "trial ballon" how the feedback goes ;) If you look at the numbers of downloads, and also think about further channels Classilla binaries took, I would expect...

    Classilla 9.2

Cameron you are the best! Crazy idea: how much would it be to free you from struggle of earning money? I would be willing to send you $5 or $10 a month so that you can focus on Classilla! If another 200-300 people would go along with me, we could free our Open Source maintainer from other tasks.

    UTF-8 with MacOS 9

Of course I found the link to Alan Wood first. That´s where I got the hint to SUA from. It seems that Pepper would be the tool of choice, but it is nowhere to find at the whole net. The 2nd link looks good, thanks. And about iText, I am a little bit confused what is the difference to...

    UTF-8 with MacOS 9

I am looking for applications that can handle UTF-8 at my MacOS 9 machine. There are tons of text editors which are able to produce UTF-16 but I only found two applications for UTF-8. 1) SUA a nice freeware tool, but complicated (no drag & drop etc.) 2) BBEdit 6 (maybe 7 as well, but even...

Funny new Bug (or is it a Feature?)

Today a friend of mine tried to work at one of my G4s, a 733MHz at MacOS 9.2.2. While he was heavyly klicking around, opening Classilla and Acrobat 5 at the same time as XPress, he got a reboot alert box. You know one of these System 7 style ones, where the reeboot button is not drawn at the...

    In memoriam: OSC and Deck

Yeah, Deck was a hammer! I remember we realised several multitrack projects at my 6100/60 with 16MB Ram. And when I became my G3 Upgrade and 136MB Ram, we even did a filmproject. Importing the whole PAL film as SVHS with the 2 MB graphic card to Deck, and did all the dubbing where the original...
