    Classilla's future focus

Thats making me unhappy! Seems X is killing 9 again, ... Please consider that there are good browsers for X like Opera 10 etc. But there is no good browser for 9 and 8.6. For people who need 9 you are recently the only (!) chance for a better browser. And a G4 machine around 1GHz should...

help dissecting an E-Magine Proview slide show

I have no problems at all. Not with Classilla, not with iCab, even not with IE 5.1 . No idea whats wrong at your browsers, but I checked it right now again. And yes the Archive does not store all files, but at pages that were up several years the chance is in existance, that there were the...

    Apple Script Professionals here?

I am new to Apple Script, but the following script should be possible. The recorder doesn´t help me: open the date control panel, change the year to 1996 close the control panel Open a application in the same folder as the script (with fixed name) open the date control panel again and...

    Realbasic 2/3?

Did you try it at Real directly at the previous versions: http://www.realsoftware.com/download/?lang=en#previous ? Or do they treat REALBasic as "not availaible anymore" even for customers?

Booting System 7 from ZIP: Can't replicate experiment

The missing system extention for the SCSI Zip was the first thing I thought about as well. There has bee an extention for recognising the ZIP drives for MacOS before 8 (I think it was 8 which first had the driver implemented). I could always boot with "command - option - shift - backspace" that...

Youtube on Flash 7 / Mac OS 9!

Well, John, r73 was ok until last year. It did a quite good job for years. I could watch nearly every Flash contetn if I gave the browser the possibility to loade completely before playing at my G4 800 (PM 9600). It must have been April or something when YT switched to Flash 9 for the normal...

Youtube on Flash 7 / Mac OS 9!

Well that works, ... strange! But fine, I was very angry when YT dropped Flash7 support. Now what Cameron could do for us is a "YT Window" with exact 360 pt size. I found out aligning sound/video is as better the less the MacOS 9 has to interpolate the video. I suggest "New/Navigator 360pt...

Things Mac OS 9 doesn't do that you wish it did.

Let me be the troll; Really? I think thats Apple propaganda, as everyone has to read that the OS is not afflicted by a application crash for years now. I have some reale stabel OS 8.6 machines that never need reboots at all. OK, PM could be nice but it is not mandatory. I do not need it. In...

Things Mac OS 9 doesn't do that you wish it did.

What I really miss beside the already mentioned points is the possibility to display .odt files Also missing is a encrypted Jabber client. As well as better File-System support for external media like sticks, HDs etc. Also nice would be to make Multiprocessors usable for the OS. Shouldn´t it...

Things Mac OS 9 doesn't do that you wish it did.

About Bittorrent: It is at least "somehow" possible in 9: http://btfaq.com/serve/cache/11.html A good coder could make a nice GUI in some weekends and make it really usable.

PCI IDE Card for Mac OS 7?

    OK, that's true.

PCI IDE Card for Mac OS 7?

Sorry for maybe being the grinch now. But why do you need System 7 with IDE. System 7 means you will be limited to HFS and that means a maximum of 65535 files. A 9500 works very well with 9, or if you like a rock solid stable 8.6. So why would you need a 7 ?

    I have a burning desire. A *NEED*

Get a dirt cheap PCI graphic card. Put the mac in your kitchen on the top of the cabinets (so that noone can see it). Than get a cool TFT for wall mount, put it at a cool place near the oven or the sink. Than put a microphone anywhere. Install pixeltoy, and play around for some real cool...

iStat Pro equivalent for os 9

iStat seems to be a strange combination of informations, ... but well I don't use X at all. Of course there are programs for getting all the informations at 9. Most important is the Application "System Profiler" which is shipped with MacOS 9 (or below). You can find it at the Apple menue...

    Gigadesigns & Mac OS 9

Well, nothing new (but thanks for the document). The Firmware update was done (otherwise the Gigadesigns wouldn have worked at any time). And as I said the strange thing is X and Linux have no problems at all! Only 9 permanently hangs. I thought it could be "This G-celerator is also compatible...
