I got the adapter to work pretty easily. Then I took the screws out of the 165 and compared the display plug to the one on my 145 board. The 165 is too big, so I can't use the 145 board with it's screen. About 1 cm too much. So, re-assembled the 165 and powered up to a cursor. It only displays...
I have a classic with 4MB ram and 7.0.1. Does anyone know a decent gif/jpeg viewer or slideshow program that will work on this thing? Jpegview requires a 68020 and quicktime. Thanks!
I'm pretty sure my 280c died this way, I recall hearing a ticking sound coming from that area..and that's all it ever did again xx( . I have very little soldering skills, I wonder how much one would charge if I brought the board in for cap replacements somewhere.
Ok this seems like a silly question, is there a specific way of storing these or other boards until they are fixed? I'm not talking about temperature or humidity. If the boards were upside down, would the fluid just leak on the cap? Can gravity even make a difference on such a small object?
I can't see where to turn it on, do I need my apple rgb plugged in first?
edit- I ask because it is buried inside a cold messy garage..
edit 2- The Powerbook displays control panel wasn't installed for some reason. Musta been the previous owner who removed it..so now I'm awaiting the adapter...
Is this a good candidate? http://www.amazon.com/Adapter-DB15-Male-HD15-Female/dp/B0016OC1J2
Will Video Mirroring on be saved after shutdown? I don't think my Pram battery is any good or if it's needed. I will just try it actually :p
Thanks for the info!
Hello! looking for some advice. I have two headless powerbooks, a 140 & 145 that still power up. I also have a 165 with a working screen and no issues. I have this-
If I switched the mobos and had a headless Powerbook 165, could I find a MAC-VGA adaptor for this cable and hook it up to my...
RIP! Sorry to hear that. I think it's just some bad luck in the air. My iBook G3 I received 2 days ago was assassinated by my cat dumping a glass of water on it. Currently awaiting for the parts for it that exceed the initial cost! If they aren't breaking themselves, cat's will get them...
You can maybe try an apple hardware test cd. It depends on if it works on your ibook or not, some models it doesn't support.
I think it has a long RAM test on it, maybe leave it loop overnight?

Will a Macintosh SE boot with the battery removed? Also does anyone know where to acquire a battery with solder leads on them? :?: This is probably common sense to some but I can't seem to find this battery
When playing music, I think I hear both speakers working. I don't hear all the instruments in the music, some are very quiet. Not limited to music, everything stereo. It seems there is a dead channel or something. It's going on 20 years old, in computer years that's what..2,000,000? Music on the...
Im going to have to try it later on a color, AD is on only a b/w in front of me... BUT! I think this screensaver was an extension. I believe it was it's own extension because
1.) I had After Dark 2+3.0 on my mac at the time and don't recall seeing the same thing at home.
2.) I brought a floppy...
Well the keyboard arrived sooner than expected. Probably less than half the keys work :( I realized I might have a problem when I saw the keyboard looked used. Why would a used keyboard be in an Apple service box? Hmmm...It was a replaced one which should have been TOSSED! That's ok, let this...
I guess those euro keyboards were a lot brighter than I thought. Still looks pretty interesting. Should be here in a few days. Too bad mine is junk, I'd give it away but it has dead keys too..
 what a coinkidink! I recall you saying you were "getting rid" of them so I figured it was a last ditch effort you throwing them on Cl. I am very happy with this thing thanks again! My dad is moving to a new place and I'll probably bring this thing over as a gift when he is settled..after...
Unless I want to mess with acid or something screwy, I guess I'll have to deal. A spare CRT on ebay is more than I paid for this sadly...I am also afraid as soon as I replace the thing, something else will break  I appreciate how it is now. I love the ROM booting. It gives me something...
Hello! Sharing my latest toy with you all, a ugly but functioning Macintosh Classic. It was $30 on craigslist and I was told it was going to the trash soon if it didn't sell... Boots fast, 40MB HD with 7.0 on it and maxed ram...but has a few small scratches on the screen. The scratches don't bug...
