My Power Macintosh 8500 was running perfectly until, yesterday, while I was using Photoshop 6, it froze. I shut it down by clicking the start up button, but when I started it up again, the moniter didn't show the picture. I double checked all of the plugs, and opened up the Power Mac to check if...

Most likely your battery IS dead. I am having a similar problem with my PB 180... when I plug it in and the battery is in, it starts up. When I plug it in and the battery is not in, it doesn't start up. When I don't plug it in but put the battery in it doesn't start up.
I still use my PB 180... I have been writing a blog on my PB that I am planning to publish to the internet... I'm still looking for a way to transfer the files though.
I own a Powerbook 180 as well. Believe it or not, I actually need to put some files online. Is there an adapter I can get for the old modem port? Any help would be appreciated! :b&w:
