I have found one on ebay for $25. Thanks again! http://cgi.ebay.com/Apple-590-0831-A-Macintosh-PowerBook-video-cable_W0QQitemZ150295033275QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting
I currently own a well working PowerBook 180, built in 1991 and running System 7.1. I was looking to connect an external display to it, but I didn't recognize the display port on the back on the PowerBook. After doing a little research, I discovered that the port is called a Mini-15...
I would suggest getting a new battery, and maybe replacing the LCD. But then again, the reddish hue may be just under-powering, as the other person (can't remember the user-name) said. For the sound, you could always just plug a cord into the headset or speaker jack, and it will stop making noise...
Yes, actually, I think you are.
BookWorm: I doubt any of the options you listed would suit today's basic computer needs. I would suggest buying a PowerBook G3 "Pismo." This model will support the newer Mac OS X, allowing you to more easily connect to printers, networks, browse online, etc. Not...
Hmm... My Powerbook 180 is on sleep 24/7, besides when I am actually using it. It doesn't seem to have any problems, but that is because the display is off. I image if you left it on, even with the backlighting off, the screen would eventually burn. Is there any way to put a screen saver on one...
Hmm... I would do what he suggests, and recconect the ribbon. If that doesn't work, perhaps you could replace the passive matrix display with an active matrix one from a different model?
1. Do you think you could connect the Powerbook directly to the internet, maybe with an old adapter?
2. You would need apple talk on if you wanted to share an ethernet connection.
System 7 is well known as one of the best OS's ever released by Apple. I run System 7.5 on my Powerbook 180 and it works great. I vote 7. 8 would run slower, too.
That happens to my PB 180 too! > :(
Ur lucky u got that for such a low price! They go for up to $500 on eBay, thoguh I would never seel mine :beige:
