What kind of SCSI card was available for the G3 Power Mac? I think it was 68 pin, but I don't know whether it is an HD-68 or a VHDCI-68? I want to be sure before I buy an adapter. Thanks!
I like the idea of having one of those adapters, but the G3 cost $50 and the display wouldn't be much more. It just doesn't seem right to pay more for an adapter than you do for the computer or display its self.
I noticed a 21" (I think) Apple Studio CRT display sitting outside someone's...
Oh, well this is rather unfortunate. ADC was the stupidest thing apple ever created. I do have a PC 15" monitor that I can use, but the quality on apple displays is far superior. The newer Cinema displays, which do have DVI, are much more expensive and I don't want to pay over $150 for a...
Hello,
I am buying an old Power Mac G3 to use as a file server for my collection of vintage Macs. I would love to connect a 17 inch Apple Studio Display (Flat Panel), but the Power Mac was built before the ADC monitor connector. The first solution would be to buy a VGA to DVI adapter and then a...
I managed to find a PowerBook Video adapter on ebay for a very affordable $3 ($9 with shipping). The item came in its original 1992 Apple packaging and worked out of the box with my PowerBook 180 when I plugged it in to my PC monitor (requires another adapter). The adapter works with the...
Congratulations? If you don't mind, could you provide some instruction for me? After I plug my ethernet cable into the ethernet port on the SCSI to ethernet adapter, what do I need to do next? Is there a setting I need to change to use the high speed internet? Thanks.
I have now ruled that it is a problem with the video card. I plugged the Power Mac into my TV using the three RCA connectors, and the sound was great. The screen only showed a white box though.
I put the processor back in and now the computer has started up. Monitor still isn't working at all... So it looks like I may be exactly where I started. A Power Macintosh 8500 that will not run the monitor.
Hmm... I successfully removed the motherboard and hit the reset button (not sure if the computer needs to be on while I do that...) After putting the motherboard and daughter card back, and re-connecting all those messy wires, I turned the computer on again and it hummed to life (minus the...
I finally removed the motherboard... it took awhile, due to a VERY annoying daughter card that prevented it from moving (I hear that the daughtercard contains the processor.) I am examining the motherboard for any issues.
I did not... I found this guide on apple.com, which should apply to my Power Macintosh as well. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379 I unscrewed the six back screws without a problem, but had some trouble accessing the motherboard. I saw the expansion slots, but everything beyond that was...
Mr Power Macintosh 8500 has stopped functioning properly. While I was using Photoshop 6, the screen froze, and I was forced to press the shut down button to turn off the computer. When I turned the computer on again, the monitor no longer functioned. I tried plugging my Power Macintosh into a...
