VGA resolution may have been adequate 15 years ago, but modern websites and applications require at least 800 by 600 resolution to display well on your screen. Either way, I'd go for the 15". Built in speakers are always nice, and it won't take up too much more space.
I'm pretty sure it's 40 pins, but I can check tomorrow on my own PowerBook 180 to make sure. I don't see any on eBay, but you could ask around in the trading forum of this site.
I think that this role has already been given to the 68k MLA wiki. Why do we need to second one? If you're interesting in writing about vintage Mac's, then I suggest you add to the current 68k MLA wiki.
I picked up a 17" Apple Studio Display, and a Power Mac G5 from a music school about a week ago.
- The CRT monitor works great. I have it connected to my 68k PowerBook. The color quality is great, unmatched by any display I have ever used. :b&w:
- The Power Mac G5 needs some parts and...
I have a MIDI keyboard and a PowerBook 180. I also have a MIDI to 15 pin sound port cable. The 15 pin sound port can plug into the display port on the PowerBook, but it wouldn't make any sense to plug an audio device into a video port. Can someone help me connect the PowerBook to the keyboard?
I remember my iMac asking to go down to 16 colors, so I know that's possible. I never used grays on the iMac, but it could be possible to go down to 16 grays.
Well my problem must be different, because I left it on for about half an hour and nothing happened. I think it might be the power supply, because the hard drive starts to spin, then stops and goes cold. Do you think this is indeed a possibility?
Hahaha :beige:
Now I'm thinking it might be a power supply issue. I have a Power Mac 8500 that also won't display video, but with the Power Mac the monitors light blinks orange. When I plug the LC in, the fans spin up and then they spin down, and the light on the monitor is solid orange...
I think it would be best to just buy an airport card for your iMac. I have a relative who installed an airport card after her Ethernet was destroyed from lightning, and it worked just fine. I'm not sure about the web browser though. IE 5 and Safari 1 are out dated, but you could try Opera 8...
I'm having similar problem with my LC III. When I first used it with my Mac ~ VGA adapter, the picture was fine (although it didn't boot up because there was no operating system installed.) I moved the computer to another room, and when I tried again, there was no picture at all. What "switches"...
You're right, ADC wasn't the stupidest choice they ever made. Abandoning it was. If Apple had stayed with ADC and developed a more powerful connector to power their larger CRTs and Cinema displays, then it would've become a standard interface.
