A Notable Apple II / Mac donation

Sounds like a pretty good haul!!!! If I remember correctly, each slot is for specific things: slot 1 printer, slot 2 modem, slot 3 can't remember, slot 4 can't remember, slot 5 3.5" drive, slot 6 5.25" drive slot 7 specialty card. I'm not sure about the others, but I'm positive on the disk drive...

    What's that?

I believe the two bottom adapters are old PC parallel (not SCSI) to serial adapters. Top adapter is DB-15 to VGA as mentioned before.

    A big mistake...

I did the same thing with my duo. The only way to fix something like that is to find a startup disk for your computer or pull the drive, hook it up to another computer (with a usb adapter), and move whatever you move back where its supposed to go.

266MHZ Beige G3 mini tower buildup

I know it boots ok from os9. That drive is an IDE drive, and there is no SCSI drive in it currently.

266MHZ Beige G3 mini tower buildup

I set it up like you said, 80 gb drive as master on primary bus, dvdrw as master on secondary bus with the os9 drive as slave to the cd drive. I made two partitions on the 80gb, one 8 gb and the rest of the drive as a second partition. I formatted the disk with drive setup and as mac os...

266MHZ Beige G3 mini tower buildup

I downloaded xpostfacto and tried to install tiger on my machine with the dvd drive I installed. It installed some files on the new hard drive I installed then rebooted and the screen flashed "Can't open" several times then booted into os9. My drive configuration goes as Primary: os9 boot disk...

266MHZ Beige G3 mini tower buildup

Well, Got some more parts today. (DVD Drive, RAM, VRAM, and USB 2.0 card) Unfortunately the USB 2.0 card isn't compatible with the beige models. It wouldn't even chime at startup. Everything else works fine though. Now As soon as I get the money for the processor and Video card I'll be in...

    Welcome back!

I liked the old log, but the new one is nice. I wouldn't mind having a copy of the old one though.

Can this not be changed? I've never seen a forum with the user info on the right.

266MHZ Beige G3 mini tower buildup

An update: I'm short on cash, but I was able to scrape together enough money to buy everything but the new processor and the video card. I also ended up getting a USB 2.0 card because the installed card is only 1.1. I expect to have the stuff on Wednesday. Also, I pulled off all the keys from...

    Apple IIgs "Mark Twain"

I have a feeling that if it was finished, the specs might have been on par with or even possibly exceeded the specs of the 128K. That could explain why it was canned.

    Apple IIgs "Mark Twain"

Does anyone have any photos or other information about this machine? I know they never went beyond the prototype stage but it would be fun to see more pictures or information about this machine.

I'm not sure how I'm going to get xpostfacto on the new drive. Is there a way to run two ide drives at once? I think I read somewhere you can't.

Ok, I'm still trying to figure out what os to put on, but I'll probably still go with tiger if it installs. I came up short on cash this week so I haven't ordered everything, and the only thing installed is the floppy drive. I'm also ordering a dvd drive and a ati radeon 7000 64mb video card on...

How do I enable on board video with my beige g3?

Well, if you're trying to use an old RGB monitor like the one for the IIGS it won't work, it has less pins even though the connector is the same. I'm not sure why a VGA monitor won't work as long as you have the right adapter though. I have the beige g3 tower I just picked up connected to a 14"...
