Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
It had been asked multiple times, I just updated to design to have two SCSI ports to allow for daisy chaining :)
The connector used will be this one : https://www.digikey.fr/product-detail/fr/adam-tech/DPD-25-00-B3/2057-DPD-25-00-B3-ND/9833611
Great I'm joining right now ! :)
By the way I'm changing my regulator to a lower dropout voltage : MIC5319-3.3YD5-TR it will be safer for people with bad USB wall charger, and will support SCSI bus with a weak TPWR.
Great ! Happy that there is some interest in this project ! :)
Yes shipping to Italy should be not that expensive and faster :p
If you think on a better name than 68net that could be some help :p (but maybe 68net is fine also !)
Sure ! this is quite easy you'll see :
Ignore PWR_FLAG this is a symbol needed for Kicad to prevent a warning.
- +5V is actually the 5V from my USB port
- TPWR is the TPWR pin from SCSI
I assume you know how a diode works. If you apply power to USB, VCC will be 5V (minus some voltage...
Yes I saw that thread, really interesting resources ;)
On my design power can be provided by the SCSI bus or/and the USB port. The board has some circuitry that automatically switches between these two sources, so for the end user it is really convenient. On a mac that has a stable SCSI 5V...
Hello everyone !
I had been looking to connect my SE/30 to the internet but I struggled to find PDS boards that would fit in it, and all SCSI to Ethernet boxes that I found were missing floppies with drivers. Moreover most of this stuff was in the US so shipping would be really expensive. Then...
I see.
Do you have any hints on how to figure out which between the logic board and the floppy drive is having an issue first ? (whithout buying a new drive)
I'd like to avoid testing 1000 traces for nothing :p
Yes I did recap my Logic Board. I checked all Data and Address traces between CPU and floppy chip and they are ok. The rest of the board should be ok as I'm able to use System7 from HD without issues.
I had an issue with another trace...
Hi everyone,
I'm becoming crazy as I have huge trouble making my original floppy drive work reliably. I have been investigating this for more than one week nearly full time.
It looks like my drive is working sometimes but not always :
Sometimes it will just eject the drive quickly. Sometimes...
Out of curiosity, how much time do you need to boot this image on your se/30 ?
I mean regular boot, not first boot.
Is 3.0.1 or 3.1 faster on SE/30 ?
How would you set up these versions on se/30 ? I tried to flash install iso of these version on my sd card but I wasn’t able to boot from them...
Thanks for your feedback about the schematics ! They did evolve a bit since my last message and are going to evolve a bit this weekend according to some minor sides I have and your feedback.
Yes you’re right, the digikey sourced parts are LVx parts but I did not have LVx components in my kicad...
That's super interesting ! I plugged the power connector on my scsi2sd but I never tried without !
I'm going to upgrade my design to get power from SCSI and let a usb port for power fallback in case !
On question, would guys prefer to use a scsi -> ethernet board outside the Mac (ie...
Unfortunately from what I know SCSI does not provide any power.
Maybe the next step would to design a connector such as SCSI2SD to get the power from the inside of the computer, and design the ethernet card to be fitted inside the Mac.
