The sticky is the "soft touch" coating deteriorating. You can clean it off with isopropyl alcohol but it will leave the rubber surfaces shiny instead of matte.
I'm pretty sure that the only easy processor fits are the Sawtooth, Gigabit Ethernet and aftermarkets. The other ones are going to be physically facing odd directions or require other mods to work properly.

Later NeXT machines used ADB. Early ones had a NeXT-specific DIN connection. The mouse plugs into the keyboard which plugs into the monitor (or sound box) which plugs into the computer.

The keyboard is just about exactly as wide as the outside dimension of the Powerbook Duo top case. With the Duo case over top, you can barely see the plastic edge trim of the Powerbook G4 on the outside edge.
A 12" iBook G4 keyboard is wider than a PowerBook Duo 2300c topcase by about 1/16" on either side and you'd lose the top row of function keys if you tried to fit it into the Duo's keyboard space.

I know the 21" color cable works with the 21" monochrome monitor but not the other way around. I was hoping the portrait would be the same story as the 21" mono. I actually passed up an early color 21" a while back because the case plastics were all cracked and broken.
