    Asnate MCNB 10Base-T connection

For those finding this in the future - it seems that the MCNB 10BaseT port gets confused when connected to modern switches. The card tries to autosense which port to use but something is tripping it up. I purchased an AUI adapter and connected to the same cable/switch and everything just...

    Asnate MCNB 10Base-T connection

We have lost so many in the bay area (california) over the last decade that I certainly hope there is room now for some new places to open up. It is a real struggled to find any parts or surplus stuff unless you go deep into San Jose down south.

    Franken Centris 650

The backplate on that one looks JUST like what I have on mine. Same font, missing the ethernet and power button etc. Of course I only have 4mb on the motherboard and an 040LC but that could just be whatever logic board they grabbed. I'll look around for a sticker or anything that indicates...

    Asnate MCNB 10Base-T connection

Thanks so much for the tips. I hope I didn't throw away all of my AUI transceivers. I know I have seen one in the last few months but that COULD have been me binning it because I haven't needed one in a few decades. I have 2 of these cards so I think its a problem on the switch side as they...

    Asnate MCNB 10Base-T connection

Tried it out today using my Airport Express as a bridge to the modern network and still getting the flashing green light on the card constantly. The orange access light will flash when I go to AppleShare in the chooser so it is certainly trying!

mAcTX - ATX to Classic Macs

If any of these were around, even just the PCB's , I would be interested in grabbing one of the adapter boards for the IIc/650 style machines. I have a 3d printer if the files are available!

    Asnate MCNB 10Base-T connection

So from what I can tell this isn't a 10/100 card but just a 10mbs one. According to the manual the options are either FORCE AUI or autosensing, but I didn't see a FORCE 10BaseT config. Maybe I have an old switch around that will fix it? I should note that the cable coming from this card...

    Franken Centris 650

I'll start looking around ebay for a good 040 then! Since I have 24mb ram right now that might be my first upgrade. I already have a BlueSCSI in there now, although it had a 2gig (!?!?!?!) physical scsi drive in there when I booted it back up. Leaving that on the bench for now because I am...

    Asnate MCNB 10Base-T connection

Hello! I have 2 of these cards and I am trying to get them working in my Centris 650 (no Ethernet version). The cards can be see by System 7.6, both in there at once actually works, but when I connect a cable I just get a flashing Green light on the back rather than a steady green with flashing...

    Franken Centris 650

@3lectr1cPPC don't worry I took out the old battery and put in a fresh one! Even after some initial cleaning with alcohol the area around the battery has a little bit of crap on it. I guess the upside of missing that extra 4mb of ram over there is fewer chips were in the path of the battery...

    Franken Centris 650

It doesn't have an FPU and Doom II runs at ~5 fps sadly.

    Franken Centris 650

As I mentioned in another thread about my broken IIci - I also had a "Centris 650" sitting around. The thing is - it isn't really a Centris 650, or at least it isn't a WHOLE one. At some point it looks like a Centris 650 was shoved inside a Mac IIcx case and the back was drilled out and replaced...

    Mac IIci No Power

Hello! I recently dug some decade old projects out of storage and the first one I wanted to tackle was an IICI machine. It had obviously leaking caps on the board so I took it out and replaced all the surface mount ones. There was some trace/pad damage but I think I got everything hooked back...

    G4 (Gigabit?) and Geforce 4MX

ok reporting back with an answer for future generations. The 9.2.1 disc I used didn't have drivers for the last few cards released with OS 9 support and finding the nVidia driver installer online now seems really hard. Luckily the drivers are in this 9.2.2 install image...

    G4 (Gigabit?) and Geforce 4MX

Hello! Back with more G4 recovery projects. So I have a G4 with AGP that includes the extra little socket for an ADC card and has a Geforce 4MX card sitting in it now from Apple. It is a dual 500 but I recall putting in a card from a newer machine (probably quicksilver?) at some point in the...

    G4 Rescue!

Thank you for all the info everyone! I got them both up and running, though the 350mhz PCI doesn't like booting from my IDE->SATA cards sadly, even when switching to an old SATA drive from a macbook. Sticking with my Compact Flash adapter since that seems to work fine and give me decent speed...

    G4 Rescue!

Well good news is that I found a generic CPU cooler that was able to fit on the 350 PCI cpu without too much trouble and after some battery removal and resetting I got it to boot off an old OS 9 cd I had around. Luckily I had an old Compact Flash to IDE adapter spare (don't have any IDE hard...

    G4 Rescue!

Thanks for the tip! I found a 400mhz G4 CPU on ebay that will at least get the AGP machine up and running. Then I can test parts out in that. There was another, quicksilver I think, that was missing the handles and most of the internals. Are Yikes machines rare at all? I know they weren't made...

    G4 Rescue!

Early this morning I was alerted to some G4's discarded on the streets of San Francisco so I headed over to the spot and grabbed a Yikes 350 and a totally gutted Sawtooth 400. They are super dirty but I hope to get the Yikes working at least if possible, saving one of these little guys from the...

Introducing (and interest check) CircuitTalk: LocalTalk for PowerMac G4

This is very exciting news. Heard about it over on the CQII BBS and just had to stop by. I remember looking at these for my G4 500 tower back in the 2000's and really wanting one. I had enough beige G3 machines around that it wasn't essential, but I too would love to get one of these and its...
