    download.info.apple.com mirror

Guys, be nice. It's Scott's prerogative if he wants to legally obtain software for his Macs, and he certainly has a point that redistributing Apple's archives may have some legal ramifications. Though, frankly, I can't see Apple's legal department coming knocking – they're far too busy blocking...

Actually, there are currently only 16 accounts that haven't posted on the forums... so even if they were purged we'd still have greater than 1k members...

    Wiki not accepting zips?

It seems that MediaWiki doesn't allow uploading of ZIP files due to security issues. Why specifically do you need to use ZIPs?

    Posts of mine deleted

The post was spam (as you rightly pointed out) and was hence removed, the user banned, etc. The spam bot in question was indeed a clever one. Although the three posts it made didn't actually contain any spam links, I'd guess that it was an attempt to set up a legitimate looking account that...

    1000 members

Yeah, but it depends how determined they are... it doesn't take much effort to look up something on Wikipedia, etc. The situation isn't dire now, since it's easy enough to handle to odd spam message manually, so I'm not too worried about changing things at the moment.

They are implemented using the "custom profile fields" feature of phpBB, but they're not a standard feature when used in this way. The specific questions and the names of the fields that they use (etc) are unique to this forum, which should make writing something to solve the questions...

    1000 members

Hmm, sounds like an interesting solution. However, as I said above, we have had virtually no spam-bot registrations since adding the anti-spam questions to the registration form, therefore I see no reason to go messing about with the code to add further measures...

It does. But there are two types of forum spam – automated and human. The CAPTCHA should stop automated spam (i.e. a script automatically signing up accounts and posting spam). It's pretty ineffective here, since phpBB is so widely used and hence the CAPTCHA has been broken. The next version of...

New Post Search, NO LOUNGE results

That can be simplified a bit by enabling the sub-forum search option (&sc=1) since phpBB doesn't distinguish between forums and categories – so the forums listed on the index page are technically sub-forums of their categories. You can therefore include all the categories except for the...

Conquests, Software/*NIX and Peripherals forums update...

This is exactly the reasons we made these changes. One side effect of this is that Lounge will become more cluttered, however hopefully this will be countered by the rest of the forums being less cluttered and they are the forums that makes the MLA unique (or at least semi-unique). As you say...

New Gecko Browser for OS 9

Interesting, from reading their page it looks like they're planning to fork Geko at 1.3.1 (the last version that works on OS 9) and then backport changes from the more recent versions. http://code.google.com/p/classilla/wiki/AAATheFAQ According to the roadmap they plan to have a "no matter...

Mac Classic Server for Retro Challenge - Need Some Help

In general, the dynamic DNS (DDNS) settings in the router simply do the same job as the no-IP app that you're running on the 540c. Generally you just have to enter your username/password and domain name and the router handles all of the automatic IP address updating with the DDNS service. I've...
