The digging continues: IIsi's found, borked.

I now have the VideoSpigot up and running!  Unfortunately, the OS that was on the hard drive was 7.5.5, and it appears that the software doesn't work properly in anything higher than 7.1.  It shows the live feed just fine; it says it is capturing when I hit the "Record" button, but the 'saved'...

Picking up tomorrow: SE/30 with Radius Pivot monitor!

Arranged to get it tomorrow. The SE/30 has some kind of video card, pictures show it running the Radius Pivot monitor in portrait mode.  Plus what looks to be a few paper ream boxes worth of software, much of it boxed.  (Excel 2.0, Word 4.0, two boxes of Aldus Pagemaker, Dayna DOS Mounter.)

The digging continues: IIsi's found, borked.

Well, I left it plugged in but off, then came back to it half an hour later. IT'S ALIVE! :lc: Took some selective parts from the two machines (the 80 MB drive from the "looked good" machine was toast, but the 230 MB drive from the cap-burst machine works.)  But now I have it up and running...

The digging continues: IIsi's found, borked.

The "digging out" of my basement closet (under the stairs) continues.  After pulling out all the compact Macs, I found my two IIsi systems within easy(ish) reach. First one, opened it up, looked fine inside.  Tried to power it on, the power supply went *SPARK* *BANG* *fizzle* *smoke*. Alrighty...

    AppleVision 750AV question

Well, I just confirmed my 1710AV doesn't work with the IIci onboard graphics or an MDC 4•8.  Works fine with Quadra 950 onboard graphics, though.  Not sure what about the CPU would do it, though.

What model is this? Apple Branded Vintage Mic / Headset

That looks like the Plaintalk connector to me - a goofy powered microphone connector that only Plaintalk-compatible Macs ever had. Note that the physical design of that was a fairly common design - I had a few non-Apple microphones that looked just like that, with a more conventional microphone...

    AppleVision 1710AV: How many around?

Mine is still going strong. Rarely turn it on, though - it's my "server" monitor.

Cleared enough to see my compacts!

Well, it was a slow night at work (I work overnight shift from home,) so I had time to dig out all my compact Macs, see what was in them, and test boot them all. Sadly, eight years in storage wasn't kind... Plus: Starts to boot, shows "50% gray" background, beeps, then shuts down and repeats...

    RAM Bonanza!

Since I now have a working, easily-accessible-RAM-slots 72-pin Mac up and running (well, I *DID*, see my "CC2 stopped booting" thread...) and a 30-pin system up and running, I decided to test all my RAM.  Also looked up the part numbers on modules I couldn't test. Found my twelve 16 MB 30-pin...

:-( Color Classic has gone unbootable.

I had *JUST* gotten my CC2 all 'perfectly set up', (got an LC PDS Ethernet card functioning, web browser installed, max RAM, even a VRAM upgrade, and working with my PowerCD, lots of good software loaded,) and literally the next reboot after I considered it "done," the hard drive decided to crap...

Cleared enough to see my compacts!

I scored the CC2 logic board off eBay long long ago, back when the "Mystic" upgrades were all the rage, so people were selling off their old logic boards. The photo was "right side up" when I attached it! Apparently the forum doesn't respect rotation metadata.

Cleared enough to see my compacts!

Been doing some cleaning out of my basement, managed to get enough removed from my Mac storage closet (beneath the stairs) to see my compacts!  Already pulled out the SE/30 and Color Classic II, but here's what's there now: Uncertain as to their current condition (they were put in storage 8...

Not much of a "conquest" since it was from another member...

As for what I have spare, I had a couple compact Macs (Plus to Classic,) a few Quadras, - bunch of Power Mac 7x00s (at least one of every model, 7100, 7200, 7500, 7600, and 7300.) A beige G3 tower and a desktop. Not sure what else. Plenty of monitors. In fact, I just made a run to Free Geek to...

Not much of a "conquest" since it was from another member...

And in digging in to my storage space, I discovered I have ANOTHER SE/30! I thought I only had one… It's dead, like the one I gave to Macdrone, but it's the one I had my Ethernet card in. So now I have a working SE/30 with 128 MB RAM and Ethernet. :D

    Problems Installing 7.5.3 on a 7300

Yeah, one of these days I mean to install Windows 10 on my dual 1 GHz Pentium 3. Officially it meets minimum specs!

    Problems Installing 7.5.3 on a 7300

I remember running Mac OS X on my 8500/120 with 128 MB RAM. It was almost (almost!) unbearably slow, running 10.1. But it was my only even-with-a-hack Mac OS X-capable machine at the time, so I took what I could get!

Not much of a "conquest" since it was from another member...

But traded Macdrone a bunch of my "iffy condition" stuff for a few "working" systems.  Got a working SE/30, IIci, and Quadra 950 in exchange for a few PowerBooks of not-perfect shape, an SE/30 logic board for him to recap, a Quadra 630, and, uh... something else? I don't remember what other Mac...

Why iBook G4 A1133 left palm is so hot!

They probably replaced the hard drive with not just a larger one, but a faster-spinning one (7200 RPM,) for better performance.  The iBooks weren't designed with 7200 RPM drives in mind, so it probably is the culprit. An mSATA SSD won't install in there without multiple adapters, but if you're...

Compact Macintosh Value? Plus, SE, SE/30

Wow. I should get my Color Classic II back up and running!
