That drives looks familiar :)
As for the condition, before I sold it to Concorde1993 I checked it with the Rodime software. It passed as I expected it to. It was a very quiet drive compared to most SCSI drives of the time (ie. Quantum).
The bubble has already burst. I have been trying to sell simple items (ie. PB 190C) for $20 + shipping without any luck.
Its only the old compacts and rare prototypes that sell for a ton.
I'm convinced now. I hope they are able to do a ROM dump on it. I would also love to have a closer look at the logic board and someone had better send that guy a twiggy disk and an external 400k stat!
Nice score. How much RAM did it come with?
The 133mhz can be swapped directly into the 117mhz and might be the most cost effective option for an upgrade. There is also a 180mhz 603e or various G3 upgrade options, but those are less common. Having used both a 133mhz, 166mhz, and G3 233mhz, I...
Even if you can't find a Power Supply, the HD in it is worth the cost if it works. Most of the 5xx series have at least a 120MB HD in it. Most have larger sizes like 320MB or 500MB.
To get rid of the watch issue, I would reinstall the OS and do a defrag.
A reinstall will make sure everything is fresh and minimize and errors that may have occurred from the copy.
De-fragmenting will smooth things over from all the copying you did from the CD.
Hope that helps!
As many of you know, there is a case for an Apple Multiserver case on ebay. I won't post the link here as its all over the internet.
There is some reference on RoughlyDrafted regarding a BigMac project: a personal Mac workstation system based upon a Unix foundation. This may be reference to the...
Update!
Got the battery for the portables. Both power up, but the unit with the HD cannot power it up. The other unit without the HD just gets a sad mac.
Doesn't seem to matter if the battery is in it or not...more tinkering to do.
The 145b is completely dead. The HD became a transplant to...
Did some checking on the units. Tried from my one 100 series PSU on the portables but without luck. I have to wait for a battery from the guy before I can power up the Portables (he has it buried somewhere).
The 170 works but the LCD cable is pinched.
The 145b is dead and on opening found...
Picked it all up. Worked out a deal where I got 2 of his 3 Portables (non-backlit).
Loots all in good shape. One Portable has a HD, the other does not.
Well this is going to be a fruitful day.
So far I have picked up a box of Mac Cards for $20 and it included:
11 Video cards including a 9800pro Mac Edition, ixtwin turbo, and a bunch of rage 128's
1 G3 Powerlogix Upgrade PDS Card
4-5 USB Cards
1 USB/Firewire Combo card (has rust on one FW...
Nice find.
I found a local seller with a Tangerine Unit for $20 without the PSU. Great little units! This unit gets a little use by my 3 year old with a few games here and there.
I put an airport card in it, but never bothered with replacing the dead battery or upgrading the RAM from the 96MB...
Very nice. I hope you have a unit to put it in.
I have a Sonnet G3 250mhz/512k L2 that someone gave me (purple heatsink) but no nubus PowerMac to test it in!
