I have a Atari cx 80 trak-ball that I want to look at, to use as a mouse trackball, but I haven’t gotten to it yet.... With any luck, it’ll just need a DB 9 gender changer, but I don’t want to do that without checking the pin out.

I agree. Acard that ends in M, is for Me-axe (Apple Macintosh, not Microsoft, .... that’s how Microsoft people pronounce it). if the model # is xxxxxxM, it’ll work when you build it into your “macs”

Here’s a different way to brighten plastics.  Straight sunlight, and some science behind it.

Show pictures of the board.  Did you check Apple System Profiler? Is it a really running at 66, or has it been overclocked with a clip oscillator? And, yes, put a fan into the square part of the heatsink, with the air blowing out to remove heat, not in, to blow air onto the heatsink.

You might want to look at the link I posted in my last comment. You’ll find all the pieces to get a new jack & connector in there, or do what I did, and remove it entirely, soldering the wires directly to the board.
