Error while Initialising Floppy Disk (Macintosh SE/30)

@HeartletTullius  There are still many 3.5” floppy cleaners on Amazon, eBay, and other sources.  https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2055359.m570.l1313.TR1.TRC0.A0.H0.Xfloppy+cleaner.TRS0&_nkw=floppy+cleaner&_sacat=0...

Error while Initialising Floppy Disk (Macintosh SE/30)

Could be that the floppies have decayed, could be a bad drive / heads, could be that somehow a 800k drive ended up in the computer,..... Does it read / write any other floppies? Have you tried the new floppies in a different computer?

    Macintosh SE screen flickering/changing shape

Sorry if I left you hanging..... J1 is the connector from the deflection coil on the CRT to the analog board.  There are 4 wires, I think I remember that they’ll be red, blue, green, yellow. I don’t remember the order.  Check the solder joints on the analog board at that connector, and check...

Rusty Screw on the Motherboard. Should I be worried?

The screw is either a #6 or #8, with 32 TPI. From what I remember, it’s an 8. Take it to a hardware store and ask for one in that size that’s stainless.  It’ll cost less than $1 The computer was probably just stored someplace that was humid, moist, or damp.

SE/30 repair (and a little problem).

It doesn’t matter what’s on the HD when you boot from a floppy.. When you insert a floppy at time of boot, the machine looks for a valid system on the floppy disk. If it finds one, it will continue to boot from that floppy disk.  If there’s not a valid system, it will eject the disk, and look...
