There are still many 3.5” floppy cleaners on Amazon, eBay, and other sources.

Could be that the floppies have decayed, could be a bad drive / heads, could be that somehow a 800k drive ended up in the computer,.....
Does it read / write any other floppies?
Have you tried the new floppies in a different computer?
What computer are you using, and what, if any, modifications have been done?
Have you tried to format the disk to < 2GB? Some ROMs don’t see more than 2GB correctly.

J1 is the connector from the deflection coil on the CRT to the analog board.
There are 4 wires, I think I remember that they’ll be red, blue, green, yellow. I don’t remember the order.
Check the solder joints on the analog board at that connector, and check...
The screw is either a #6 or #8, with 32 TPI. From what I remember, it’s an 8. Take it to a hardware store and ask for one in that size that’s stainless. It’ll cost less than $1

It doesn’t matter what’s on the HD when you boot from a floppy..
When you insert a floppy at time of boot, the machine looks for a valid system on the floppy disk.
If it finds one, it will continue to boot from that floppy disk.
If there’s not a valid system, it will eject the disk, and look...
