I have been slowly getting back into my vintage Macs. When I tried to fire up my SE, the Hard drive was dead, as was the floppy drive. So I replaced both, though I don't know if the floppy drive was any good. I managed to get a System onto the "new" hard drive via a SyQuest drive, but the...
I'm pretty sure I've got one of those small ADB keyboards you can have for shipping if you want.
As for your dilemma, I would like to suggest getting the SE/30 (and having uniserver recap it). And then find an SE motherboard. When you need a 68000 fix swap the logic boards. Don't know if you'd...
Are you sure you tried to boot the machine with only two (zwei, nicht vier) RAM modules? I thought the RAM had to be put in four at a time. If that's the case, perhaps you have some RAM that has bad contacts.

A few weeks ago, I found an SE Powercache adapter on eBay. I was gambling hoping that it was for an SE/30, but it wasn't. It says it also works for the Classic also. I was hoping it would work with my 040 card, but it doesn't mention it, and I think the cards it says it works with are newer 030...
Thanks for the offer, c.
Being in Indiana, I think the price of shipping would be a bit too high though. Perhaps I'll look into trying a continuity check x 100 or so :beige:

I've got a few Plus keyboards sitting here gathering dust, and I saw that there are a few people on the trading post forums looking for them. Is there a way to test these to see if they work if I don't have a Mac Plus or earlier machine? I don't really want to ship one out just to find out it's...
Since I am pretty sure that the main thing a drive case does is convert the incoming like to low voltage DC, couldn't a travel adapter work with this device? I would think the only issue might be the 50 Hz (assuming you're household supply is 230 volt, 50 Hertz and not 60 hertz.) Hopefully...
As far as the RAM SIMMs being a possible cause, wasn't it a common troubleshooting tip way back when to rearrange the SIMMs into different sockets so if there was a trace of corrosion on a pin it wasn't likely to touch the exact same spot on another SIMM. This might be something to try as the...
I've been perusing this forum for a few months and read somewhere about PRAM batteries exploding and destroying the motherboard they are installed on. So this afternoon, I decided to open up two of my older Macs to remove these batteries, as it's unlikely I'll be using either anytime soon. The...
I recently joined this forum because my SE/30 needed to be recapped, and Google sent me here. After signing up, I got in touch with a gentleman who was able to put new caps on my board in a very timely manner, and now my SE/30 is working once again. This evening, I even used iCab to get online...
Hi, This is my first post to this forum, though about 10 years ago I think this was an email list (?) A few years ago I got my SE/30 out of storage and it worked for about a year or so, and now I think I'm having some cap problems. A few times I powered it up and had the samasimac (I'm sure I...
